          Answer This Question

There appears to be several questions about chips in the enamel on this tub, but none of the "how do I repair it" questions are answered. American Standard, can you answer this question?

                Answer This Question

The Models 2390LH and 2391RH are made with higher standard "Amerilast" material, which includes a layer of polyester on the underside of the tub for stability, durability and better insulation as well as being less noisy when the shower is running.

Hello Doug, This is a great question! The main difference is the material that they are made out of. Our Princeton Pro tubs (1390202.020) is an enameled steel tub. Our original Princeton tub does have a thin layer of enameled steel but it also has our Americast material, which is a composite material. It helps with sound and insulation. Sincerely, Your American Standard Consumer Connection team

Shipment delayed and tub wall had a dent. Plumber on site and installed because to wait another 2 weeks for new tub and have plumber back out would cost more than tub. HD offered discount in form of store credit that was never received.

                      Trust the reviews…don’t do it
I researched so many bathtubs and read more reviews than I can count. In the end I chose what I thought would be the best fit for me and ignored the reviews about damages. My tub arrived with chips that were clearly there when it was packaged. I had to scramble to get a new tub in time for installation and I certainly didn’t purchase this one again. Getting the tub picked up for a return was also a HUGE hassle. Buyer beware!

Arrived in good condition. Good, standard tub for our guest bathroom. Does feel a little low/short but that was expected at this price point.

My old American standard was cracked in many places on the bottom grey layer. The new model has a support piece there, so hopefully it’s better. I paid a few thousand $ for a new tub and 3 days labor for 2 people to replace it. Of course I didn’t have the receipt from 30 years ago for the lifetime warranty. But I’ll save this one. Shipping and delivery was fine. The person in the store who helped me order iit online was great, but there was one person when I called to check on my order who was rude and not helpful. We have been using the tub for a week. Seems the material the tub is made of is improved.seems to not have the same inferior qualities as old one. Hope so.

In used now for about two weeks. Will have to wait how the care and maintenance is going to be. I hope it is going to be easy (worried about the bottom having the anti skid coat will retain stain but I have to wait for now). Overall, it is good.

The back of the tub flexes despite the ledger board running front to back. The two upright 2x4s placed in the back corners under the back of tub limited some flex but not between where they were placed. Caulking cracked and separated a few days after the walls were tiled.

                          Excellent replacement tub
Replaced the old tub in my rental that was chipped and rusting and wanted a high quality replacement. The Americast tub is made very well and offers some thermal insulation of keep tub water warm. I was worried the tub would be scratched or chipped when I get it home but was happy the tub was undamaged when opening the box. Glad I spent a bit extra for this tub over some of the other models available at my local Home Depot, it's a great tub.

Looks nice, like cast iron porcelain but it's really steel and half the weight. Almost put in a 300+LB castiron but fitting it into an already tight alcove meant needing to easily manuver it so light weight was a must. The steel tubs we looked at bent easily and the porcelain looked sprayed on. The acrylic tubs we took home and tried to install were pretty and scratch resistant but flimsy and I had serious doubts about cracks around their drains and bottom from reading hundreds of reviews of them (the one we almost picked had crackling when I walked in it). This tub almost passes for a cast iron. Beautiful for the price. Some tips: use moartar bed and spread it thin, push into place, level and screw down around lip, let it set fully before putting weight into it. (gap is small if you install correctly). If you use caulking as instruction suggest, again lay THICK beads (hopefully on the raised part of the underside checkerboard pattern) and let it set solid before putting weight into it or you just squish it out. (if u do neither you'll probably get creeks) Combined it with the Distinction 32 in. x 60 surround sold here too. Looks great. Put both into rental home.
