About This Product

The Kidde i9010 is a 10-year, sealed battery operated smoke alarm featuring Hush, Alarm Memory, and a self-activation mechanism that makes installation simple and easy. This package contains 3 Kidde 10 Year Lithium battery alarms in convenient, easy to open box.The alarm will automatically activate when it is attached to the mounting bracket; there are no pull-tabs, no switches--everything is automatic. The sealed-in board-mounted battery will power the i9010 unit for its complete 10-year life. No replacement battery will ever be needed, and an End of Life alert indicates when it is time to replace the alarm. At the end of the alarm's 10-year life, deactivation of the alarm is just as easy. Using a tool such as a small screwdriver, a deactivation switch removes power from the alarm and renders the battery safe for disposal. As an added safety mechanism, the alarm lockout feature prevents a deactivated unit from being mounted back on the mounting bracket. The i9010 also features Hush technology, allowing consumers to temporarily silence nuisance alarms, and an Alarm Memory feature that alerts the user via rapidly flashing LED lights if the alarm has sounded since the last time the test/reset button was used. This alarm uses ionization sensing technology. Ionization sensing alarms may detect invisible fire particles (associated with flaming fires).

Questions & Answers

Can both be muted by muting just one of the alarms? We have really high ceilings.
ByMar 22, 2026

Answer This Question

Hello. No, these alarms do not interconnect or communicate with each other. If one alarm goes off, it does not set off the other alarms so you can't stop the alarms by finding the alarm setting off all of the others.

    Answer This Question

Hello. Yes but the plastic could be brittle at this point. Replacing the bracket would just take a screwdriver and would be recommended.

            Answer This Question

Hello. No. It does not run on AC power at all. As a smoke detector, it has to go on the ceiling or, if you have a flat unsloped ceiling, on the wall within a foot of the ceiling. See the owner's manual for the I9010 to see where this alarm should be located on the ceiling or wall and in what rooms.

Beeps without cause and won't stop
The local fire dept installed my smoke detectors so I am sure they were installed correctly. Within two years, two of them beeped with no cause and few months apart. They wouldn't stop beeping even with multiple times pressing on the button. I pulled it off the ceiling and kept pressing the button. When the beeping didn't stop I took it outside and smashed it with a hammer. That helped to disperse my frustration!

Thanks for your message and for reaching out to Kidde. Nuisance alarms can occur for different reasons which include common things like —cooking, aerosols, steam, or dust entering the sensor. Here are some tips to help solve this… you can use the Hush feature if safe to do so (i.e., confirming there is no actual fire), clean the alarm thoroughly with compressed air into sensor openings, and ensure it’s placed away from kitchens and bathrooms, as well as HVAC vents and fans. If the behavior continues after cleaning and relocating, please contact 1-800-880-6788 for additional support or replacement options.
Like the fact that it's ten year battery. I put marker on the one button so I can differentiate. which is the push the test and what's the hush button. I wish they wouldn't have discontinued this because I like this smoke detector.

Bought in 2020. Constantly goes off in 2025. We have 7 of these in our home. So much for 10 year life expectancy. Very disappointed.

Not even close to 10 years
I bought this in 2020 and it died. Not the 10 year experience! The manufacturer code says May 25, 2020.

4 years old and just keep alarming.
On 6/12/25 this alarm just alarming out of nowhere in the middle of the night. It would not accept to be silenced. I needed to go through the routine to permanently discharge. It was manufactured on July 12, 2021. It was installed on February 11, 2023. Very defective product. I have a few of these in the house and one only 10 feet away. No alarm from any of the others at that time.

                                  Not Great…
We bought ours in 2021, and like most of the comments it started nonstop beeping today. In our case, just around four years. I tried changing the battery, but it’s still ringing. So apparently NOT a 10-year product…

                                    poor battery
The battery does not last 10 years. The date on the battery is July 2019. It started beeping recently. I tried to deactivate it. I broke the tab, but when I tried to turn the slot clockwise, the plastic just breaks. I would not recommend.

Thank you for reaching out. If you feel your product is defective in any way, do not tamper with it. In many cases, the quickest way to exchange your product is to return it to the original place of purchase.
Only lasted half the promised ten year lifetime.
Installed in October 2019, so about five years and six months. Last night it started went off. Not just a low battery chirp, a full on repeating alarm, that would silence it self, then full alarm again.

I bought 5 smoke detectors in 2019 and now it starts beeping about every twelve hours. I reset it each time. I have installed new batteries and still it beeps . I am not satisfied with this product. Since it is supposed to be a ten-year alarm I think I should be given all new detectors.
