2 in. x 8 in. x 10 ft. Premium Fir Dimensional Lumber

Actual dimensions of my 8 ft 2x8 were 95-3/4 x 1.5 x 7-1/16 (closer to 1/32, see picture).

I spent an hour today digging through the “premium” lumber attempting to find usable framing studs. While there was the usual bowed, arched, cupped, and twisted stuff that I expect to see, what made almost every board unusable was the milling failure. Every board in the bunk showed evidence of the planer being misconfigured or loose. It’s one thing to work with the typical issues. It is entirely another to have a board that changes dimension in and out repeatedly and randomly by 1/8” or more. Drywalling over these studs would be an absolute nightmare. You should fire your source for this material, return the material to them, and find a different supplier. I brought home 3 out of over 40 checked. Of the 3, one will require planing before install and the other 2 are barely better. I’ll be finding another place to shop if it isn’t any better next time I am buying studs.

We only had a little bit of a problem with one of the boards, being kind of a little ratty, but other than that product was great enjoyed it project went together seamlessly
