Questions & Answers

Does the maximum growth of the shrub vary by container size? I am wondering what size should I buy.
ByMay 16, 2024
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

Hi Shoshanah - Thank you for reaching out. The shrub will reach the same mature size not matter which size you buy. The main difference in container sizing for shrubs is the age of the plant. The age of the plant is a great gauge of how quickly the plant will grow and bloom. Age over size is reflected in the determination of the cost of each plant and the size of the container it is planted in. The older the plant, the more prolific it will grow within the season of purchase. • 4.5 inch quart size shrubs and perennials are roughly 6 months old. • 1 gallon size shrubs and perennials are roughly 1 year old. Answer This Question

Hello Diane, thank you for inquiring. We are happy to help. Sterile means that they are noninvasive and will not spread. Proven Winners has bred the invasiveness out of the plants so that it has only the good qualities and none of the bad. I hope this helps. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us at (734)6547485 or helpdesk@provenwinnersdirect.com. Kind Regards, Allie

It just means it won't be invasive, as all other privet varieties are.

        Answer This Question

Hi Dawn, Thank you for asking. Yes, Golden Ticket Privet can be planted in a container. When planting a shrub in containers, we recommend choosing a pot a few inches larger than the current pot size. It may be necessary to transfer into the ground as it nears its mature size of 4-6 feet tall and wide. If you have any further questions, please contact us at (734)654-7485 or helpdesk@provenwinnersdirect.com Kind Regards, Allie

Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot regarding 1 Gal. Golden Ticket Privet (Ligustrum) Live Shrub, White Flowers and Yellow Foliage. I would recommend visiting your local store nursery as you would be better able to choose size and variety of plant appropriate for your area. This tiem typically ships with minimal foliage in active growth on the plant. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future.

                    Answer This Question

Hello Rudy, Thank you for reaching out to us. Generally, the best time to plant shrubs is in the spring or fall. Make sure the threat of frost is gone before planting in spring. Fall is also great because of the cool temperatures, reliable rainfall, and short, bright days which help plants make a quick and easy transition to your landscape. I hope this helps! If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to us at 734-654-7485 or helpdesk@provenwinnerdirect.com. Best Regards, Tabatha

Great easy shrub with visual interest
Received in healthy, ready to plant condition. Packed perfectly and no damage. I have purchased and planted these in a few locations and they are a fast growing shrub that fills in quickly and gets a nice white bloom. Has a nice light green foliage that offers nice visual interests Deer are not interested in it which is a huge plus for me in my current location. Will buy more.

I awed while opening the box with exceptionally well packed by proven winners, looks like it was gift; this small plant looks beautiful light green in a 1 gal pot , cant wait to grow big in my garden, leaf looks very artistic. I also purchased 2 gal pot for Pravachol in my garden which is not too big of a size but I’m very happy with this healthy looking small tree and sharing the picture.

My shipment arrived on schedule, well packed. They are beautiful specimens! I planted 4; 2 thrived & 2 died for reasons unknown. (probably overwatering or my planting technique) But I was able to get 2 replacements that look super! The original 2 (pictured below) showed new growth within 7-10 days.

The plant arrived at my front door well packed and in great shape, very healthy looking. I wasn't able to plant it right away because our winter here does not seem to want to let go. My wife recommended I fully unpack it and keep it in a lighted area in the house until the weather warms up enough to be safe. It looks like is would easily survive a real cold snap but we didn't want to risk hurting such and beautiful plant. When we finally got a warm day to plant it, we untied it from the pot and separated the container. It was still healthy but the roots were packed in there so it was definitely wanting to get in the ground. Since we planted it, things seem to be going great with it. It hasn't even blinked since getting planted. In fact it's looking better every day.

I have always liked Privet as a hedge, but never did plant one because of its known invasive habit. This Golden Ticket variety has been bred to be non-invasive and is claimed to be the only sterile privet on the market. The shrub arrived in magnificent condition, considering it's still winter here. My wife immediately noticed that it came from Proven Winners and mentioned her experience is: "their stuff is always good". Recent nights have dropped below freezing, and because this specimen is fully leafed out, I will wait until overnight temps are stable above freezing before planting it out.

Very good size for a one gallon shrub! Came nicely delivered in a well protected cardboard box. Planted it straight away, and - so far - the shrub looks pretty happy. I was expecting a sad "dormant" plant - it's February after all - but the shrub is super green, looks very alive and ready to grow. Apparently, privets produce some cute fruits that birds enjoy to eat. Can't wait for those: I hope that the birdies will be so distracted by those fruits, that they will abandon eating my strawberries.
