It is hard to believe that there is no specification on the pipe size is it 3/4", 1/2" or 1"?

Doesn’t matter about the pipe size due to there a fittings to increase or decrease pipe size to what you need or want

Does this system need a ionizer?
Not that I know of. Ours is working great. Keep in mind the install kit did not fit ours so just be careful. If you buy one, wait to get it home then take the pieces to Home Depot to determine the right fittings and connector to your home pipes.
