The new Jet JDP-15B, 15 in. Benchtop Drill Press replaces the Jet JDP-15M/354165. From a full 3.125 in. of spindle travel to the sturdy cast iron head with a poly v-belt drive system, this drill press is designed to perform. This drill press also features a 1-handed belt-tensioning system and a large 12-1/2 in. x 17 in. work table.

How tall is the drill press
What is the distance from the tip of the of the chuck to the top of the table set at the lowest point?
What is the outside diameter of the column and how thick is the column wall?
The column is 2-7/8". I don't have the exact wall thickness but I'm fairly sure it was 3/16" (0.187").
What is the distance between the middle of the table ( the point at where a drill bit is ) and the column? In other words, how wide of a piece of lumber can I get in between the column and the drill bit before I am butting up against the column with the edge of my board? Thank you.
7-5/8" from the edge of its column to the center dot a drill bit makes.
How is the unit boxed 1-2 parts sturdy or trashed when received ?
Mine was delivered to home depot on its own pallet. I had them remove it from the pallet prior to loading in my vehicle. Once home I opened the double corrugated cardboard box that had no damage and the pieces were tightly packed in Styrofoam within the box. Everything was in perfect condition and I have been using the press for about a month now.
It was boxed well. No damage. The white paint is globbed on. Doesn't seem to be made that well, but works decent. I had the Delta floor model, but a random bolt fell through the motor area and I had to return it. If I had to do it over again I'd go back to the Delta.
The drill press comes in a single box on a pallet. It is approx 48 in. square by about 14 - 16 in. tall. Shipping weight is @ 168 lbs. Box was in pristine condition. I had mine shipped to the store and picked it up there.
One very large box. It was shipped on a pallet and strapped down. The unit was encased in fitted foam and we'll protected.
What is the height of this drill press?
44 inches with the top lid closed. You need to add another 7 inches to fully open the top lid for belt/speed changes.
The height is 36.5''.
