How long does light stay on once motion is sensed
Hi John! Once the unit detects motion in the dark it will activate and remain on as long as there is continuous motion within the detection range. Once the motion stops or moves out of range the unit will turn off after 30 seconds. Thanks!
Is there a switch where you can turn it on and have it stay on?

Does it work through glass window from inside to motion outside?
Hi Tati! Our lights use a PIR, or passive infrared sensor, which means they can not see through glass. Thanks.
Is this lighting found to be potentially cancer causing by the state of California ?
God I hope not. But it is possible these days. My 10 year old opened it and put the batteries in it so I did not see the paperwork. It is not the best light in any case. I would not buy it again.

Do these come on when they detect motion even if it is not completely dark nearby or do they only work in darkness?
It doesn’t come on in daylight or it lights are turned on in the room/space. They are very bright and work well in the right situation.

It will work in very dim light as well as complete darkness.

They can be used outdoors, IMO. But won't provide much illumination.

I have used one outside for animal alerts. I have not had it in the rain yet but I am sure it will Function wet since the child did take the hose to it by accident.
This model is not designed for use outdoors but Beams does make a model designed for outdoor use. Go to Home Depot or go online and visit Beams site for a look at the different products that they sell. I have one designed for outdoor use but I am using it in my basement because it is brighter than the three smaller units I bought. I have the unit pointed at my electrical boxes for use when I have a power failure and need to manually switch over to my generator. The Home Depot prices are better than most online sites plus you won't have to pay for shipping.

What size battery?
This handy night light requires 4 AA batteries which has lasted over a month so far. The bottom cover has to be rotated off and then the battery access cover has a tiny latch plus a very small on and off switch. After a few minutes on this unit will function with the motion activated sensor.
