John, These are designed for use with 1/4-inch impact drivers, however, they will also work in a drill's chuck.
These work in any drill.... but they are actually designed for an impact driver.... the shaft allows them to just snap in.... but can also be put into any drill.

They have a good quality finish on them and likely wont rust, also come with light film of oil/lubricant on them just so they dont rust, it would have to sit for a good amount of time in a very moist environment to actually start rusting, especially beyond just a little bit of flash rust on the surface.

Moisture is the enemy of any metal product but if this item is kept inside and a low - moderately humid environment they will hold up just fine.
