What wiring is required to supply this fan? Is 2 wire (black / white / neutral) adequate, or is a 3 conductor wire needed?

Answer This Question

I had to replace the light bulb. Pulled the cover down and it came off. The wires are very taut and I can’t hold them both closed to insert back into the unit. My hands are in the way. Is there some trick to doing this?

What is the highest watt I can use if I replace the bulb. I need the most light and 5000K
ByOct 8, 2023
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

The maximum wattage you can use for a replacement bulb in this fan is 8.5 watts. It comes with an 8.5-watt LED bulb included. While the specifications don't list the Kelvin rating, it does mention the included LED bulb complies with California Title 24 and JA8. You may want to consider looking for replacement LED bulbs that comply with these standards and offer a 5000K color temperature within the allowed wattage.

    Loud - motor whine
I purchased this fan to replace a dying 110cfm Airking. Being a small room, I wanted a quiet fan. This thing has a terrible motor whine - much louder than the fan drum. I had it replaced and the replacement is just as bad. This is the loudest (and lowest cfm) fan in my home. Cheap chinese motor. Time to cough up money for a quality alternative.

The White 50 CFM Single Speed, 0.3 Sone Ceiling Exhaust Bath Fan with LED Light, ENERGY STAR is a very well made bathroom exhaust fan. Right out of the box you can tell this is a better quality exhaust fan. The lighted dome if made of glass with a nice frost on it to diffuse the light, not some cheap plastic. The case is very solid and their is access panel to do the wiring up in. There is no need to remove the whole unit, like some fans in order to wire the fan. Also the attached rails make it easy to mount. Overall a well made fan.

In our hall bath we have had the same Broan fan with light for the last 15 years and it has served us well but was a bit noisy. When I had the opportunity to try a new bathroom fan I decided to give the Air King LEDAK50 a try. The unit appears well made and comes with two tracks and rails for easy installation with new construction but was not that great for replacing an existing fan. Installation is much easier with two people and I my case my girlfriend was able to help with the project. She was up in the attic while I was in the bathroom. I ended up drilling a couple of holes and direct mounting against the joist on one side and used the supplied sliding rail system to secure to the adjacent joist for a solid mount. My old fan came with holes in the main frame box that allowed for the use of screws and mounting directly to the ceiling joist but this unit did not have any holes pre-drilled for this type of mounting. The supplied manual was not detailed on the wiring, which has a set for the fan and a set for the LED light. I was able to determine the wires by following their path so I could wire them properly since I have separate switches for the fan and the light. The fan motor comes out of the frame easily though the electrical connections took a bit of tugging to get them disconnected. The supplied duct vent is 4 inch diameter and exactly the same as my existing so that portion was easy to connect. Even though the unit was the same CFM it required a larger cut off of the ceiling drywall so I used the frame of the fan as a template and added a bit for clearance. The fan unit was dropped in from the attic side and secured as mentioned two screws into the joist and used the supplied rail system to secure on the adjacent joist.. Since my existing bathroom fan was so close the exterior wall the removal of the existing and installation of the new fan considerably more difficult and time consuming crawling around in the attic but was able to make it work. The entire project of removing the existing fan and installing this new unit was approximately 4.5 hours of taking our time to make sure we were doing everything correctly. We have never installed a bathroom fan before and would rate this about a 6 on a scale of 1-10 of difficulty, and I consider myself fairly handy. Anyone that is not fairly handy should consider hiring a professional to help with the installation. I wish the supplied installation instructions were more thorough but watch a few youtube videos before attempting this project gave me a lot of insight of what was involved. The fan works nicely and is super quiet compared to our old fan, which was 2.5 sones. The new fan is so quiet I had to do the paper test of putting a sheet of paper near the fan to see if it the was enough suction to hold it to the fan, sure enough there was. The LED light has a pleasant look with the frosted glass enclosure and gives the fan/light a nice appearance. Overall, I am pretty happy how the project turned out. Time will tell how this bathroom fan holds up, but I anticipate getting many years of use.

This is perfect little fan for our basement bathroom. It sits right above the tub, at the source of moisture. It sits in a drop ceiling and is perfectly placed. The fan is nice and quiet, yet rids the bathroom of moisture quite quickly. It also has a main LED light and a night light (wired separately). Installation was a little tricky, mostly because there was a beam right about where I wanted to install, so I had to get creative. It took an hour or so to get it right. It is a dual speed fan which automatically switches. Overall a great addition to the guest bathroom.

The Air King LEDAK50 exhaust fan was a straight forward install. It comes with telescoping brackets which slide onto the body of the unit and are easily adjustable, they fit between the joists in attic. The light lens is made with frosted glass. The light fixture component has a MaxLite led bulb which has pins and is a twist on, there is a socket for a night light on it as well. You can wire the night separately or (as I did), wire it to illuminate it with the fan. he fan is very quiet and has a damper, the vent accepts a 4" exhaust pipe. This exhaust fan is a quality product.

Great energy efficient bathroom exhaust fan with LED light. The instructions are easy to follow; however you will need access to your attic. I had a light right near the tub that I took out, then enlarged the hole (following the instructions) using a drywall knife. After that, simple as dropping it in, securing it with screws and then connecting the electrical. The light and fan can be set to different switches. While on, you can hear the fan but easily talk over it without having to raise your voice or yell. Almost like soft background white noise. It may not hide those bathroom noises if you know what I mean ;)

I installed this fan and found out the fan had multiple speeds, regular and night light. Each function requires a separate switch. I was able to use the single switch to turn on the high speed fan as well as the LED light. The access slot for the wires is very small. After installing the wire nuts to each wire it was difficult to get all back into small space and get the cover back on. The fan is incredibly quiet and the LED light is good and bright. Overall a very nice fan just a little difficult to install.

The installation took longer than I anticipated because I was replacing a smaller fan for this one that's bigger, but it was not difficult to install. The fan is really quiet, sometimes a disadvantage as you might leave it running thinking it's off, but I don't mind it quiet. I installed in the middle of my bathroom per recommendation online on the best location for an exhaust fan, but some people prefer right above the shower. It comes with 2 light bulbs. One is Gu24 26 Watt Lamp and the other is a night light (6W) which can be replaced, they're not permanent LED lights.

Air King did it again with the WHITE 50 CFM DUAL SPEED, 2 SONE CEILING EXHAUST BATH FAN WITH LED LIGHT, ENERGY STAR. So energy efficient with LED lights and the dual speed motor is so quite and can run continues if needed. The fan removes excessive moisture protecting your room from moisture damage. The adjustable hanging brackets make it easy to install if you have attic access. .
