This nailer/stapler works with 18-gauge, 1/4-inch narrow crown staples ranging from 5/8-inch to 1-5/8-inch in length. Since you need 3/8-inch wide staples, this tool will not be compatible with your needs.
Do I have to have an air compressor to use this tool?

1)is there a nail for this that looks like a real finishing nail? I work with only 3d 1 1/4", 4d 1 1/2 "and 6d 2" 2) can the depth be adjusted to a little below the surface all the way flush w surface thanx!

The head of a 16 ga finish "nail" used in this gun is 0.118" in "diameter", constant across the 3/4"-to-2" length [unlike 'true' finish nails]; and, no, if you're looking for an aesthetic match with a true finish nail set flush, it's not there. By selecting the air pressure and adjusting the depth setting, there's no problem setting the nailhead flush with or below the surface [range is about 3/32" depending on wood species and length of nail].
