I have a walk out patio, sunlight comes in and hits an area I'd like to use to place some collectibles such as legos and arcade machines and am concerned about yellowing of the plastic and artwork. Will this prevent this?
The S2M blocks about 99% of UV, so it would help reduce the effects of ultraviolet, such as fading on furnishings. The S2M is a clear film with no tint, so it is not for reducing light or heat. We have tinted films that can help reduce these as well as UV.
I have skin that’s extremely sensitive to the sun will this be as effective if not more effective than spf sunscreen on the skin?
The S2M would block about 99% of UV; it is most effective for up to 380nm wavelength (transition from UV to visible light occurs at 480nm). This would help provide protection from UV, although we do not know the effectiveness in comparison to sunscreen.
Will leaving the backing sheet attached create any problems? I'm going to install this in a flat frame horizontally under a domed skylight. The sheet will be supported only at the edges.
The adhesive underneath the backing liner would provide UV protection, although we would not know how the UV would affect the backing layer and its appearance if the backing liner remains there to be exposed to the UV.
Is this film UV400 rated
The S2M blocks about 99% of UV overall; the UV rejection is most effective up to about 380nm wavelength. The amount of UV that goes through increases as the wavelength approaches 400nm. (Beyond 400nm is visible light; the S2M is a clear film with no tint, so most of light goes through.)
Is this safe to apply onto a skylight?
The film can be installed if it is a flat, smooth surface. A curved surface requires heat-shrinking the film; only professional tinters should attempt this. Note that the S2M is intended for the interior side.

Im still confused. So do you mean to say it covers everything 100nm to 380nm? I just want to clarify which ranges we're talking about.
The film blocks about 99% of UV throughout the wavelength range of approximately 280nm to 380nm, which covers UVB and most of UVA. Note that UVC from the sun is blocked by the atmosphere.
Hi I'm just a bit confused? So does this window film block the range from 0nm - 380 nm, or everything above 380nm? Thank you for your help.
The UV spectrum is divided into UVC (100nm to 280nm wavelength range), UVB (280nm to 315 nm), and UVA (315nm to 400nm). The UV blocking effect of S2M is most effective up to about 380nm wavelength, so the optimal performance range of the S2M film covers UVB and most of UVA. (Visible light starts at 400nm, and the S2M allows most of visible light through since it is clear.)
