The two 100W panels included in the 200W Premium Kit can be mounted on a small structure roof, such as a shed, cabin, RV roof, or similar flat or angled surface. You will typically need: - Mounting brackets or a solar panel mounting kit compatible with the roof material - Proper roof sealing to prevent leaks - Enough roof space for two 100W panels plus airflow clearance For the Rover 20A MPPT controller, it should be mounted vertically with about 150 mm clearance around it for heat dissipation. When wiring: - Connect the controller to the battery first - Then connect the solar panels
Additional solar panels can be added to the 400W 12V Off-Grid Solar Premium Kit as long as the total input stays within the limits of the included 40A Rover MPPT charge controller. You may add compatible 12V monocrystalline solar panels with similar electrical specifications to ensure proper performance. However, please make sure that the combined voltage and current of the panels do not exceed the controller’s maximum input rating. If you would like, you can also share how many additional panels you plan to add, and we can help confirm whether they will be compatible with your system. You can also reach us by phone at 909-287-7111, Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM PT.
Hello Elim, There is no single fixed maximum distance between the solar panels and the battery. The allowable distance depends on wire gauge, current, and acceptable voltage drop. Panel to charge controller: Wire size must support (total parallel panels × Isc × 1.25 × 1.25) and be selected based on the cable length. Longer distances require thicker wire to prevent voltage drop. Charge controller to battery: Wire size must support (controller rated current × 1.25), again adjusted for distance. In short, longer cable runs are possible only if the wire size is increased to keep voltage drop within safe limits. If you’d like a specific recommendation, please share the product SKU and approximate cable lengths or you may reach us by phone at 909-287-7111 or you're welcome to visit our service center at https://service.renogy.com/login to submit a case.
Hello Wth8. Thank you for reaching out to Renogy. The Rover 40A Charge Controller included in the kit has a 3-year material and workmanship warranty. We hope this information helps!
Hello Robert. Thank you for reaching out to Renogy. To complete your solar power system using the kit, you will need two additional components: a battery to store the power and an inverter to connect your loads or appliances. For more information, please check out this blog post that explains the main components of a solar power system: https://www.renogy.com/blog/what-are-the-main-components-of-a-solar-power-system/. We hope this helps!
Hello KA47. Thank you for reaching out to Renogy. Our solar panels can indeed be used on the roof of your house. However, we recommend using roof mount brackets to securely fasten the panels in place. We hope this information helps!
Hi Dawn. Thank you for reaching out to Renogy. A 400W Kit alone might not be sufficient to run a 1200W pool pump continuously as it would not generate enough power to meet the pump's demand. However, you could use the solar panel to offset some energy costs if you have a battery storage system or the pump operates during peak sunlight hours. To run a 1200W pump effectively, you would likely need a combination of multiple solar panels, an appropriate battery bank, and a solar inverter capable of handling the load. If you need assistance determining the appropriate sizes for these components, please contact us at https://www.renogy.com/contact-us or call us at 909-287-7111. We hope this information is helpful, and we look forward to hearing from you soon!
Hi Robert. Thank you for taking the time to reach Renogy. The kit includes a 10A Solar Inline Fuse and a 40A ANL Fuse. We hope this helps!
