The Empire 24” digital box levels have always been accurate for us. Sure we buy new, but not on any fault of the level, it’s usually due our workers letting a manhole set on them or being ran over with an excavator. We use these levels to check slopes in manholes, storm drain boxes and pipe. They take a beating and perform with accurate readings. They’ll take a bath too (not recommended) and keep functioning. These are a great price point and are an essential tool on our crews.

This level works great. I’m very happy with all the features as well as the overall functionality of it. The back light option is my favorite. You can read it much easier than standard level.

I picked up the Empire True Blue 48" level a few months ago for a project, and was impressed with its build quality and ease of use. When I learned they had a 2-pack for other sizes, it was a no-brainer. Easy to use, well built and most important (at my age), EASY TO READ. The fact that the display lights up and the info is quick to see at a glance... it's just fantastic. There's still a 9" version of it that I need to get to complete the set, and I definitely will.

The difference between drilling a hole in concrete with a screw driver or using a hammer drill. EASY BUTTON.
The difference between trying to drill into brick with a screwdriver vs. a hammer drill. I'll never go back to another level. I find myself using a level once a week it seems and have 3 different ones from 8" to 24" and yes, the little bubble is helpful, but never gave me the confidence to know it was exactly level and then still having to eyeball it- especially over longer distances. I was going to buy a 48" level and came across this one. Saw the price and was like, interesting... So I bought it and used it immediately at home to hang some frames. Out of the box- it's perfect. It works horizontally and vertically and seeing the Zero on there really lets you know it's level. This is the second time I'm hanging these frames (hence the 48" level vs 24") and it took me 10 minutes, versus an hour, and then several hours having to do it again because I wasn't happy with it. I'm going to buy the smaller version as well. I think this is my first review of a HD product and this one is that good. I'm talking ignore the wedding registry and buy the groom one of these. I haven't dropped it yet, but it sure does seem durable.

    Doesn’t work below 45F
I had two units exhibiting identical behavior. Once the unit reaches about 45F, it stops turning on and shows “————“ as shown on the picture. After bringing to the room temperature, the leveler doesn’t come back. I tried to replace batteries at no avail. The second unit even was in the original packaging when it happened. These symbols are nit explained in the manual, so I guess they are not supposed to be seen

        First Digital Level
I was excited about ourchasing this innovated digitsl level. How cool is it to have a level be upgraded with technology, being able to have several different modes, black light, and in a compact torpedo. It’s affordable tool for your tool bag. No more guessing if the bubble is between the lines to make sure it’s level, now you’ll be certain thanks to the digital level reading 0 degrees. My new favorite tool.

This level will get you off the bubble. You know that bubble we're staring at and wondering,"Is that the EXACT middle?". This thing will tell you, digitally, if you are one-tenth of one degree off. It does a lot of things I probably won't use but it is the best and most useful level I ever had. It tells you how many inches of rise per foot or how many degrees. Set it to measure degrees to the whole digit or degrees to one decimal point. It has a backlight for when you're working in conditions of poor lighting. There's a v-shaped groove down the middle of one edge for attaching to pipes and there are magnets on the other side for, obviously, attaching it to magnetic surfaces. I'm replacing a drainpipe in my yard that runs from my downspout then down a bluff. I used this level to measure the slope I need so now I'll know what angle to bend my 2 inch PVC. I've looked at digital levels before but never saw one good enough to take home before. This will be my go-to level in most cases from now on. Empire is a name associated with quality levels and other measuring instruments.

accurate, durable, easy to use digital level with back light and magnets! This has become my new favorite level. It is accurate to 0.1 degrees (according to the manual and my testing on surfaces I thought were very level). The manual says it meets this accuracy just at 0 degrees and 90 degrees. The accuracy is 0.2 degrees at other positions. It also says it meets this accuracy in the temperature range of 15C to 25C (59F to 77F). It can be operated over the temperature range of -10C to 50C (14F to 122F) It uses 2 AAA alkaline batteries. I haven't run mine out yet, but the manual says they are good "up to" 100 hours. It auto powers off after 3 minutes on inactivity. It is rated as IP54 dust and water ingress protection - this translates to this "Protected from limited dust ingress" and "Protected from water spray from any direction". It is not protected against all sources of dust. It can not be subjected to water jets or submerged in liquid. I think a lot of carpenters and plumbers are used to other units of measuring angles (like inches per foot - which is an option you can change to). For comparison - 0.1 degrees is equal to 0.021 inches per foot. This is about 1/8 of an inch over 6 feet. You can zero it on any surface you want by using the inspect button. It is worth reading the manual as there are some nice features that aren't obvious - it has an audio leveling feature that lets you set level using a sound for feedback so you don't have to be able to see the screen. You can also change the units - whole degrees (no decimal), degrees with 1 decimal place, percentage / slope given to 1 decimal place, millimeters/meter, inches/foot given as a decimal, or inches/foot given as a fraction.
