The warranty sheet is a piece of crap. I'm sure it was designed to be confusing. Nowhere is a bathroom exhaust fan listed.

A 3-function switch is needed for this fixture on a dedicated 20-amp circuit Broan says use P3RW switch; however, it’s a 15-amp. If the 3 functions are used concurrently will the 20-amp circuit protect the switch & unit against a fire from starting?
      ByOct 11, 2026
      1 Answer |
      Answer This Question

Thank you for your question, Carrie. To ensure the safe and individual operation of all three functions (heater, fan, and light), a dedicated 20-amp circuit is required. A switch is not included with the 765H80L itself; however, our compatible [P3RW three-function switch] will operate each function individually and is rated for the load. The heater, at 1300 watts, draws approximately 11 amps, meaning 14-gauge wire is technically adequate for the internal wiring needs; all other functions require much less amperage. The maximum total load of all three functions running simultaneously is just under 15 amps, which is within the requirements for both the switch and 14-gauge wiring. However, this margin is quite close. If a room or vanity light happens to be on the same circuit, the possibility of tripping the circuit breaker increases. Therefore, we strongly advise using 12-gauge wiring from the 20A breaker to the switch box and then transitioning to 14-gauge wire(s) from the switches to the combination fan wires. Please be sure to check and comply with your local electrical codes, as some cities or jurisdictions may require 12-gauge wiring as a minimum for all kitchen and bathroom installations.

What is the maximum straight line vent ducting length allowed for this model?
              BySep 24, 2026
              1 Answer |
              Answer This Question

Thank you for your question on the 765H80L. This model does not have a maximum run. We recommend the shortest straightest run possible. If an elbow is used, we recommend 2' of straight duct before or after any elbow. We do not recommend an elbow right off the housing.

                  Too noisy
I had it installed 2023. Heats up well, however the heater is a bit noisy. How can I clean the fan? The griddle is difficult to remove. Any ideas??

                  Hi Jary
Thank you for the 4-star review regarding model 765H80L! We are happy the heater is working well for your needs.
The grille can be removed for cleaning by first removing the light lens in the center. A flat blade screwdriver can help you gently pry out the lens if needed. Next, remove the light bulb. Behind he bulb is an acorn nut. Hold the metal light reflector with one hand and unscrew the acorn nut. This will allow you to remove the grille and reflector for cleaning. Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback with us! Broan
                    Tip for installing the grille
I bought this and installed this weekend, it seems to work well enough for a not too large bathroom. I had a little trouble installing it, because the final step involves attaching the grille to the device via a protruding screw, but this screw was missing or had been removed from my box. I was able to complete the install by purchasing a 2-inch long #10-24 screw and using that to attach the grille and light bulb housing to the machine. It was a pain but worked out in the end.

                      Don’t Buy It
Replaced out 25 year old fan/heater with this model. Never rad an issue with the old one but we were remodeling. The first heating element lasted about a year and a half, replaced the element and it went out in less than a year. Keep in mind we live in Oklahoma so we only use it a couple months out of the year. We would turn it on periodically to keep an excessive amount of dust from building up on the element. It’s sad that it’s as poor quality as it is given how expensive of a fan it is.

                        Great for a few months
My bath remodel was finished in mid April 2025. I loved this heater, until it stopped blowing hot air yesterday. I’ve only used it for a few months and it already died. The previous Broan I had was original from 1974 and still worked. That’s why I stuck with this brand. This one is junk. Don’t waste your money. I read other reviews with same complaint but I was hoping for a better outcome.

                          Many better options
I only purchased this to fit an existing fan replacement hole and trying to avoid patching drywall. It would have been more worthwhile to cut and patch drywall for a better unit. Difficult to fit as replacement. Old design. Tabs and rails are beyond the needed size cutout for old work. The duct vent stays open and does not close- even with a nickel glued to it for weight. It is louder than labeled. Unattractive finish with all the internals visible.

Replacement for old worn out fan
I had a professional do this install. The old unit was worn out and not pulling any air out at all. The old fan inside of it literally rotted away. This unit is quiet when the shower is running and it throws out a nice amount of heat on cold days.

                              Poor desigh
I bought a 765H80L. I noticed the duct damper door doesn’t close all the way with the fan off. In looking at reviews on the internet I see this is a common problem. One person suggested taping a penny to the door to keep it shut. Others say they called customer service but weren’t able to get any assistance. Well knowing the usual quality of Broan NuTone products I was surprised to hear that. I just call technical support as was told they were aware of the problem but had no solution to recommend to me other than go by a different style fan. I said I lived in Wisconsin and the door being open would allow cold air in. I was basically told too bad that the way it was designed. I am so disappointed in Broan NuTone. Will be the last product I buy from them.

Hi MMASEDA12, We appreciate your feedback on the 765H80L heater, fan, and light unit. The damper/duct connector that connects the duct work to the fan is designed to stay open slightly. This is to allow heat from the bulb to dissipate out of the duct and not build up inside the housing when the light only is being used. It is the job of the roof cap or wall cap to stop the outside air from returning back down through the ductwork. If your roof or wall cap does not have a built-in damper, we would recommend one. Any backdraft in the ducting will cause the damper to close to help prevent outside air from entering the room. We would be happy to discuss this with you further at 800-637-1453.
