Can I install this in a condo? I read in the reviews you need access to the attic and I don't think I have access.

    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

Access to the attic is not required for installation. It can be installed from the room-side. The installation instructions state: "New patented quick-install brackets make installation a snap for new construction and room side retrofit."

Can this be retrofit to 2x6 joists or will it only work with 2x8 construction?
    ByAug 21, 2022
    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

This fan is designed for 2x8 construction. While some users have modified it to fit 2x6 joists, it is not designed for that and modifications may void the warranty. It's always recommended to follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Joey- The fan for the link you provided does not have a light. Aero Pure does offer a fan with LED light in this series which ends in "L5". The LED light for that model is 3000K 10W 850 Lumens. Lauren @Aero Pure

Great fan. Bigger than I thought it was, gets the job done for sure. Make sure you have enough ceiling room for it. It comes with a bracket that easily helps it adjust between studs. Was pretty easy to hook up. It didn’t come with any vent kit like some do so keep in mind you will need a hose to connect to the side of the unit to finish the install.

I got this extractor fan to replace my 33 year old extractor fan with light. However on investigation I discovered that the old fan housing is a 13 inch diameter cylinder that fitted snugly in to the ceiling. Replacing would be a major project and I plan to save for the summer. With that in mind I did some tests and the results are as follows. The fan speed with the output blocked was 1470 RPM which is the no load speed as expected. Full flow with the output wide open was 850 RPM and consumed 18 Watts of power. The current blower power consumption was 58 Watts for similar performance. Sound level was measured using a SPL meter and they were comparable,a level of 1.1 Sones is difficult to confirm since it is a difficult conversion from measured dB at a frequency of 1 kHz, however Aero Pure was lot quieter due to its plastic blower construction and its larger diameter impeller enabling a lower impeller speed to deliver the same CFM level for lower power consumption and sound level. Present extractor fan has a light, new one does not, but it is possible to add one. The four star rating is a reflection of the major change needed to retrofit an existing extractor fan.

KA- Thanks for taking your time to share your review of your new Aero Pure fan with us. We are glad to "hear" the specs for your new fan are an improvement over the older fan you will be replacing. Due to differing and sometimes surprising construction practices, retrofit can be frustrating. When you go to install your new fan this summer, do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

I gave the Aero Pure Low Profile 110 CFM Quiet Ceiling Bathroom Ventilation Fan 0.9 Sones, White to my brother-in-law for his bathroom. I like that the fan came with brackets for connecting to the studs or joists. Installation was easy. This fan does not include a light. My brother-in-law mounted the fan in a wall near the ceiling. I don't hear bearings grinding, and there's no sign of trouble. I held up a square of toilet paper, and the fan did not inhale it. Even so, the fan does feel as if it's drawing a lot of air. The Aero Pure is quiet enough that you may not realize it's running.

Nice fan. Super quiet by comparison to the unit I removed. Easy to install I just traced the rough, removed the excess wall board and popped it in. The rough has a flange on it that surface mounts to the wall board. I bumped one side against a rafter and used small headed toggles to secure the opposite side. There is nothing cheap about this unit the rough is made of some solid metal, the knock outs are easy to remove. The discharge is 4 inch and removes and reinstalls easily for old work installation. The fit and finish on this unit is very good you won't be disappointed. Only bad thing was there really could have been better instructions. I had to figure some things out myself.

Aero Pure Low Profile 110 CFM Quiet Ceiling Bathroom Ventilation Fan 0.9 Sones Wow this fan moves a lot of air. It’s an oversized fan compared to the usual bathroom fans you’ll see in most homes. There is a bit of work to retrofit this unit into an older fan space. However once the work is through you’ll be glad you made the switch. This fan is quite considering its much larger blower housing. It’s move air and moisture out quickly so you won’t have to leave it running nearly as long as the older smaller fans. I taped the exhaust hose to the unit to ensure as little air loss as possible. Wiring it up to power is very basic, no different than any other fan or light fixture. The included instructions show a good diagram for that. The hardest part of installation was removing our old fan box unit. Then it’s just a matter of cutting your hole to size then following the directions. I hope to get many years of use from this bathroom fan unit. I definitely recommend this item.

Thank you for letting us know that your new Aero Pure fan is meeting your needs. The "technology" of bathroom ventilation has come along way from loud noisy fans. We are happy to hear that the installation went well for you, especially since it was a retrofit. Thank you for your recommendation.

            HI Judy,

We hate to hear that you are disappointed in the performance. There could be a couple of things that could be causing the issue, please have your installer check the following to make sure there are no issues with the installation.

            • How long is the ductwork running to the fan?
            • How many elbows/bends are there are in the duct?
            • Make sure the ductwork is not blocked or restricted.
            • Check to make sure the flapper on the damper/duct connector isn’t stuck or broken.
            • You can run a test to see if the air is exhausting by holding a tissue or piece of paper up to the fan. If the tissue is not sucked up to the fascia/grill, then it is not exhausting correctly.

You can always reach us at info@aeropurefans.com as well with additional questions.

            Thanks,

Installed to replace existing older, louder fan.
Need to have access from attic to install, requires larger space in dry wall ceiling. Very quiet, good quality.
