I am so happy to have secured a G7943, a venerable old model that appears on its way out of the lineup if I interpret the "Act Fast!" tag correctly. It is not the same machine as its twin, the T33901, which sells for the same price. This is a beautiful machine, a sum of nicely made parts. Set up was easily with both the clear manual and the YouTube support. A friend stopped by for a visit just when I needed him in the assembling process--putting the head on the pole. Having two people for setting up is prudent for customers of any age. You don't want to drop or set down the head hastily. I haven't really used the press beyond a couple of initial test runs, but I feel confident that all is well. The intended purpose of this review is to communicate that lots of people did good work indeed in delivering the machine to my shop. The two boxes arrived in excellent condition. The key parts were carefully preserved with light oil and everything was smartly packaged. No dents, no poorly painted parts, no rusty parts, no missing parts. The driver was courteous and kind. Thanks to all who worked so well to deliver my press!

Product arrived undamaged and after setting up I was pleased with everything except the depth stop design. That's an important feature for me but for this machine you have to use wrenches and it isn't a quick adjustment. I'd be willing to overlook that if there was some aftermarket replacement that could improve it but I also couldn't find anyone (including Grizzly) that sells a stop or quick push nut that fits this machine. Most things you'll find are for a 1/2"-20 rod but Grizzly uses metric.

Just setup and tested it and am pleased with everything except for the depth stop design. Very happy with this drill press. i was in the market for a new one and was not impressed with what is on the market today. some research found Grizzly and said it was good stuff sourced in the USA . When it came in it was much heavier than i expected ,and that is a good thing for machines . the finish and machining on it is perfect .i think this will last the rest of my life.

Runs clean after minimal setup. Quiet and rigid, delivers what I expect from this power and weight range, smoother than expected.

I picked it up from Home Depot so as to minimize transport damage. In assembly, the column's outside diameter difference top/middle was slight, but caused some struggle installing the table support assembly. Scratches removed just enough metal. Got it assembled and ran the test per the manual. Instant huge banging noises. Opened the headstock. The middle pulley was not attached to anything, nor the belts--just rolling around--and two washers were laying on the bottom. Took it back for a refund.

good heavy duty drill press

This drill press is a fairly solid unit but the spindle runout is far too excessive. I didn’t have a dial indicator to measure it but at the end of a 3/8” jobber length drill it was at least 0.10”. I’ve had cheaper drill presses with far less runout.
