Metal crafted cage designs encase 10 LED lights to form a magical ambiance. For indoor use only suitable - if using outdoors place under a covered area. Requires 3 AA batteries (not included). If 1 bulb burns out the rest will stay lit. Cannot be connected to other lighted items. The silver wire is bendable and waterproof (battery pack is not waterproof). The lights have a convenient timer with 6 hours on 18 hours off. The lights can also be set as constant or flashing. Number of bulb on string: 10 lighted length: 5 ft. x 10.8 in. Total length: 12 ft. Spacing between each bulb: 7.8 in.

I filtered by outdoor (only). First word in the product name is 'indoor' but I don't see that on the package and there are customer photos of the lights being used on an uncovered deck. Is it safe to use these lights uncovered and outside?

How does the timer function works for this lights??
It is a simple time, once depressed, will turn the lights on for 6 hours the same time every day when the button is pressed. You can not select the length nor time the lights will go on.

does the metal get hot from the bulb?
Not to my knowledge
No. The lamp emits no heat that I can feel with my fingers on the lamp, so the metal does not heat up at all. These lamps look the same as what is in LED Christmas light strings.
Typical!!!! most lighting will be a bit hot, but beautiful anyway.
The lights are tiny and I also believe they are LED. The bulbs give off no heat at all.
