Is this suitable for a new primed factory ordered fiberglass door

        Answer This Question

Hi Jeffrey, thank you for your question. Our coatings are not recommended directly on fiberglass. Typically, we recommend using our Bonding Primer No. 432 first before painting fiberglass. However, as you mentioned your door is pre-primed, I suggest testing out the paint first for adhesion. Good luck with your project! -Giovanna

Since most factory-applied primers are water-based, we recommend an exterior latex paint for this door, not alkyd

I used the Alkyd to paint my front bay window. I matched the color of mother windows that were wrapped in the brown aluminum. I cleaned and prepped the surface prior to painting. I two coated the window frame and was pleased with the outcome. The paint leveled well even though it was windy. I would imagine that if there was no wind and the product took more time to dry the leveling would have been better. I used a satin finish but after it was on and dry I think I would have been happier with a semi gloss finish. I do like the fact that this product can be used both for the interior and exterior. It definitely met my expectations and would use this product in the future.

I have always preferred enamel paint for baseboards, doors and exterior projects. Cleaning up afterwards was a challenge since you have to use paint thinner to clean your brushes. This paint is a water based paint. It is as tough as oil based paints and the color looks great. Clean up is a breeze with water.

Another mistint from home Depot, this one cost me $23. Because I was in a hurry I didn't check the paint color next to a chip in the store. Home Depot seems to have two major problems with tinting paint one is shaking the tinted paint, they seem to skip this step quite often. The other is mistints. When purchasing more than one gallon of the same color they will often only check the color of one of the gallons and then spot the others cans with the same paint, this cost customers money as they don't accept returns on tinted paint. If you purchase paint from home Depot that is tinted you will need to ensure that every gallon is the correct color by checking it on a paint swatch before you purchase, demand that they open every can and do this for every single drop of paint you buy from them or you will be paying for home depot's errors.

I used this paint to refurbish old cottage cabinets. It went on better than I expected. We did 2 coats. It’s nik proof, meaning it doesn’t get scratched by finger nails when opening and closing the cabinets. I would definitely purchase this again in the future. Money well spent!

This paint has great adhesion with little to no sanding required. I have used it multiple times to give old laminate wood pieces a fresh new look. Apply with a roller for flawless finish.its very smooth and a little goes a long way.

I used this Behr paint to paint a semi-rusted metal security door. I used both a foam roller and a brush. It covered well with one coat. It evened out well, leaving no brush strokes or drips. The sheen is satin, not flat but not glossy either. Highly recommend.
