12-Cup Onyx Black Drip Coffee Maker with Spiral Showerhead

our 4th coffee maker in 30 years of marriage and we hit it right with this one. Intuitively easy to use, program, fill and set up. I had to cut back on grounds because extraction is so efficient. The gold tone brew basket is a plus you normally have to pay extra for. Once set up two buttons gets us set for the next day’s brew. We paid a lot more for the K brand that takes rocket science to program every day and uses 1/2 again more coffee for a decent brew and it lasted only 27 months. The brew cycle is faster and now that I know a proper grind the strength is more consistent. Cleaning the basket is easy and quick to set up a second pot when company makes a sudden appearance also. Great coffee maker and delivery was quick as well.

I have had this for 3 months and used it often. However, it is the most fragile carafe known to man. The slightest touch on a wood cutting board caused it to crack. Also, the lid to the grounds baskets leaks water every single time it is lifted. Who designed this thing? I had the previous version of this coffee pot and loved it. This new one is definitely a downgrade. The previous model had the grounds basket come out from front, so you didn't need to pull it out from under cabinet. The water container didn't need a lid and was much tougher. And, the carafe was much tougher. The carafe was knocked around for years with no problems. I only had to stop using it because the heating elements got a short and wouldn't work.

Right after usage, the coffee pot drips the coffee onto the heating plate. If you do not get to it fast enough, it will stick to the pot itself. Causing the coating to come off of the plate. The lid broke after a couple uses poorly made.

The carafe is extremely fragile. Mine broke with the slightest tap on the sink, and I cannot find a replacement anywhere. Without a carafe, the machine is completely useless. Unless the company makes replacements easily available, I would not recommend buying this product!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the best coffeemaker we've ever owned, and we've had quite a few. It seems KitchenAid covered every possible angle with this unit. What surprised me most is how the carafe mouth is designed. It pours in a smooth stream without frothing or aerating the coffee! So it stays fresh longer. I have never seen that before. But it's all very impressive - especially the drip head. Your engineers really outdid themselves with that. A small burst of hot water lands perfectly in the center, while a larger burst gets evenly distributed wider among the grounds, yet still centered. It's ingenious - the grounds don't get bypassed at all, and the brewing happens orderly. Our previous maker which was also a KitchenAid lasted about a decade of twice daily use. This one seems at least as well made, and is far better designed. As a bonus, the design is very elegant; I consider it beautiful. Hats off to KitchenAid on this unit. You hit an absolute home run!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just had one coffee maker before my KitchenAid, when I bough the KitchenAid my thinking was “well is just bigger than the other one” but then when I prepared my first coffee the result was incredible, the kitchen smells delicious all around it and the taste was pretty good as well, I’m still reviewing the features but at the first look I’m pretty satisfied with the product, thank you KitchenAid team!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This coffee maker has a very well thought out design. Perfect amount of stainless steel and gloss black. The coffee it makes is very good. Nice that the heating element for the pot can be managed as to not change the flavor over time. Would love to see this with matte black like the grinder has. Loving my coffee experience with Kitchen Aid!
