ByNov 12, 2021

This fire pit has a thermocouple flame failure device for safety, but the product information and existing Q&A don't mention an adjustable flame feature. It does state that it produces 40,000 BTUs.

Can this be adapted to run on natural gas?
ByJun 18, 2021
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

This fire pit is designed for use with a standard 20 lb propane tank. While a 15 lb tank can be used, it will deplete faster. There is no mention in the product details of adapting it to natural gas.

Does the propane tank fit inside it?
ByApr 26, 2021

Answer This Question

Yes, a standard 20 lb propane tank is designed to fit inside the fire pit, accessed through a door at the base.

can we switch out the glass for lava rock? if so, what quantity?
ByOct 11, 2020

Answer This Question

I don't see why not. Just make sure you do not bury the ignitor area on the burner in lava rocks or fire glass. Since lava rock is porous, I'm not sure if it matters if you have the whole burner ring covered with rocks. Don't know what the quantity would be.... sorry.

Does anyone know the correct position for the base? The instructions make it look like the base is symmetrical, but clearly it is not and by design.

    Answer This Question

I figured it out. Base includes off-center ring with anchor screw for tank. Ring and screw should be closer to door (rather than further from door).

      Answer This Question

Yes, it'll just run out faster if you instead had a 20 lb tank.

What color best describes the metal on the base? It looks more black than bronze in the pictures.

          Answer This Question

Yes it comes with a lid. Also comes with a cover that is fine for dust but it’s not great material so probably won’t last too long.

It's very disappointing that when I assembled the Fire Pit, there is a 2 to 3 inch gap in the door when shuting it and it does shut all the way and or if it did shut all the way, the door would not hit the stop on the other side. Very poor design! I have emailed the company twice with no responds from them! The sad part I read other reviews before purchasing and seen some that had the same complaint and I figured it was just a few odd ones, as a company would not make and sell this fire pit with type of design flaw! I was wrong! Now I am stuck with this one and no response from the company!

            Would not recommend to anyone
Followed the instructions for assembly. The door was 2 and 3/4ths inches from being able to close and the top would not attach to one leg. Called customer service for help and was told not to follow assembly instructions and to start with the top and build upside down. Did this (which was more difficult) only to have the bottom of the door with a 1 and 1/2inch gap. If I can hire someone to take this back to the store for credit I will. Very poor materials.

Very well packaged and easy to assemble with exception of the top. Very hard to line up the screws from the underside. Had periodic issues with lighting and it may take several tries but once it lights it's great.

If it doesn't bother you there is a gap in the door about an inch wide so it won't close. The sticker that indicates the level of heat for the dial is peeling off but that just needs some glue to fix. Other than that it's great and eye appealing. I gave it 1 star because of the gap. I wouldnt recommend this to someone that has a problem with imperfections.

On Dec.2, 2020, I assembled the Hiland 40,000 BTU 30 inch Firepit. When the circular mounts and tank holder base are assembled, the circular base screws holes don't line up with the table top burner holes. The circumference of the base is larger so the screws don't line up. Because of this, the circumference is bigger and the door does not meet with the panel leaving a gap of 3/4 to an inch and the door doesn't stay closed. Also, the starter does not ignite most of the time. I have to use a lighter to start it. It is brand new. I have called Hiland about this problem on Dec. 2nd and was told that they will get back to me. When I didn't get a call back I called a week later and was told they will call me back and I still didn't hear back. I made two more calls after and this time nothing has become of it. My rating of the customer service is poor as well as their product. I would not recommended them nor would I purchase any of their products. STAY CLEAR!

I purchased this fire bit through home depot because of the value and dimensions. The installation of this was miserable. You almost need a second person since there is no easy way to secure the curved panels and legs together while you screwed in the bolts. About half of the bolts fit in fairly easily and the other were difficult. The male and female threads were all machined and designed poorly. I spent a couple minutes trying to line up the pieces exactly and fish the bolt in at the exact right angle. Two of the bolts would not screw in at all. Ultimately, I was not able to finish because the bottom tank holder that also provides internal support of the panels, did not line up with the required screw locations. I tried to bend the tank holder corners and loosen some bolts on the fire pit to move everything into the right spot but this did not work. I have but together a number of beds, dressers, wardrobes, grills, etc. and should not have had an issue with this.

Wanted a smaller table fire pit as our deck in not very big, so we went with the 30 inch round. Puts out a lot of heat. Does take 2 people to assemble as it can be awkward to try and hold and use the allen wrench provided. We used an extended Torx bit on a drill to speed up assembly. Very nice tile top with metal cover to go over the clear fire glass rocks when not using as a fire pit. We use as a regular table. Vinyl cover for when it rains seems durable and fits great. Would have given a 5 star rating but the click ignition starter only works about 1/2 of the time, so have a long ligher around for when the automatic lighter does not work. (I have had this same problem with many grills I have owned in the past.) I have friends who have other brand table firepits and they have the same problem. The description on the Home Depot web site says it has a battery-operated pulse ignition, but mine does not have a space for a battery and just uses the old click spark ignition. One tip is that, since the unit has a thermocouple, you need to continue to push in and hold the knob once you turn it on and get the flame going for about 20 seconds until the thermocouple heats up. Otherwise flame goes out. Only other issue I had was the sticker that goes around the knob showing on/off high/low keeps falling off. No big deal will just fix with some heavy duty clear tape or stronger glue. Wife loves it - got it for her birthday. Not a great source of heat if it is windy since flame gets blown around. Will store in garage in Winter since we live in Ohio and get a lot of snow and this is made of steel. Have had for about 2 months. One of the base panels is a door that swings open and makes it easy to access the propane tank.

                  DO NOT BUY THIS
Not sure if it works. Never made it to fully assembled. The propane tank and table top were misaligned their corresponding screw holes by over 6 inches. I couldn’t muscle it enough to get it into place to aseemble. Do yourself a favor and avoid this one, it’s cheaply made.

                    Good for a couple years
Bought this in 2020. Assembly went OK. Looked nice. Electronic ignition was hit and miss, but tolerable. The first couple years, the exterior looked nice. 3rd year it showed enormous areas of rust and paint peel on the metal parts comprising the top and the burner bowl that held the fire glass. Found there is also an asbestos piece beneath the burner bowl (I found this out when the asbestos broke in two). Yikes. Wearing a mask when reinstalling that. Using Rust Reformer on the rust. Oy!
