Questions & Answers

would using an oil like a glass cutting oil be better than water?
ByOct 17, 2025
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

Generally you want to use water, especially on hard concrete. Do NOT use ANY liquids when near electrical. Water is cheap, keeps bit cool, liquidates dust and easy to clean and flows well. Oil is expensive, retains dust, hard to clean and is thicker.

All the bits work well for the job that I did it has 2- 1/4 and 2- 3/16 those are the ones I used the most

These Milwaukee carbide bits are excellent. I used them on tough concrete and they drilled smoothly without dulling. Very durable and highly recommended
                by
No good, definitely not extended life.
Very disappointed in these. They claim to be long life, up to 9x, but I could barely drill a couple holes in concrete before the bits would be burned up. I went through the couple 1/4” bits in the set and then had to go buy 3 more to get all 24 holes bored. I had to use the larger bits to get started to make sure I did not burn up my last couple bits but ended up destroying pretty much all of them.

Willis, thanks for taking the time to share this feedback on the SHOCKWAVE Carbide Hammer Drill Bit. Rapid wear across several bit sizes during a single application can interrupt work. Our team will reach out to you by email to gain more insight and provide support.
Durable bits if used with water
Bought this set to mount 3 railings & drilled a total of 24 2" deep holes using the ¼" then ⅜" bit with water, water deficiency extended the life of these bits photo shows wear after drilling 24 holes.

                    Packout Case as pictured
A number of reviewers said their order didn't include the hardshell Packout case, as pictured on the product webpage. Mine did indeed come in a Packout case. Would have returned if it hadn't. I haven't yet used the bits, but they appear well made, as would be expected from a Milwaukee product.

                      Different box than advertised
I was looking forward to this kit as it was advertised to come in the case that fits in my pack-out box. But when i got it, it came in a different container which was not like the one in the picture.

one hole and ready for the trash
I drilled one hole with the 3/8 bit, and it worked great. Then I tried to drill a second hole, and it just smoked. I looked at the bit and saw that the carbide tip was all chewed up. After only one use? Not what I expected from Milwaukee. Do not buy!

                          Wonderful Bits
So I just got these today and they're wonderful. Let me walk you through it. The packaging as many are aware is wacky. You need to cut horizontally along the front and sides to open it up and slide the top half upwards while wiggling it side to side. So that you don't completely destroy the packaging if you want to keep it. Now to my surprise the bits came with a little bit of oil on them which was quite nice to know they won't rust. The bits worked great in old red brick from the 60s. Had no problems at all. Longevity wise not sure how long they will last but you could always get their made in Germany bits.

                            Strong
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Perfect to screw into concrete. Very strong and didn’t have any problem using these. I used them to screw down zip ties for cords I used while running watering lines for my plants. Milwaukee is an amazing string and dependable brand.

These our a must have for your tool collection.
