About This Product
Grow bigger, more beautiful plants* with Miracle-Gro Garden Soil All Purpose. This soil for in-ground use feeds plants for up to 3 months and improves existing soil to build strong roots. Use with your outdoor in-ground plants, including flowers, annuals, perennials, trees, and shrubs. To apply, spread 2-3 inches of soil in your garden bed or other in-ground area. Mix into the top 6-8 inches of native soil. Dig a hole and plant your new plants. When planting individual plants, dig hole 2x as wide as the container or root ball, and blend a 50:50 mix of garden soil and native soil. To amend garden beds, apply a 3-inch layer of garden soil and work into the top 6 inches of soil. Three 1.5 cu. ft. bags of Miracle-Gro Garden Soil All Purpose cover 24 sq. ft. of garden at 2-in. depth of soil applied, or four bags for a 3-in. depth of soil applied. *Vs. unfed plants

Hey Lucy, Miracle-Gro All Purpose Garden Soil For In-ground use does not contain pesticides and is formulated with processed peat forest products. Including coir, sphagnum, peat moss and fertilizer. Be sure to follow the directions found on the label to achieve the best results.
How many pounds?

It depends on whether the bag has been sitting outside in the rain or if it has been kept dry. If the soil inside is bone dry it is around 15-20 lbs. If wet, it can be much heavier even 40 or more lbs. That's why Miracle Grow won't give an answer.

The coverage of Miracle-Gro Garden Soil All Purpose is dependent on the depth you're applying the soil as well as the area which you're covering. A 0.75 cu ft bag will cover 4.5 sq ft at a 2" depth.
Who knows approximate weight of a bag? Similar to a bag of mulch? Or a bag of beach pebbles which is 30 lbs?

Is this good for planting fruit trees
Thank you for contacting us. Miracle-Gro Garden Soil All Purpose can be used with ornamental and edible plants. These products are best used by mixing in with the native soil. Do not backfill the planting hole of trees and shrubs with the straight product. This can prevent the roots from ever leaving the planting hole. Mix at least one-half native soil with the soil amendment before backfilling the planting hole. Can you use it for grass seed topper
Hi Shane! Thanks for reaching out! Miracle Gro All Purpose Garden Soil can absolutely be used a top dressing for seeding. Best results are achieved by rototilling these products into native soils. When applying product to an existing lawn, strict depth limits must be followed to prevent turf damage. Do not use more than 1/4 inch (6 mm) of product at any one time.
