Evolution Select Plues Lift by InSinkErator quit working. I tried to insert handle into bottom and it won't budge. There is nothing in the inside to block it.

Hello, Greg. We're sorry, but we don't have the weight of Evolution Select Plus. You can expect the product (and the included pieces to install) to weigh about 1-2 lbs less than the shipping weight. What is Lift and Latch mean

ByJul 25, 2023

Answer This Question

It means that to attach the disposal, you raise , or Lift it into place and engage the tabs then rotate the disposal clockwise (as looking from underneath) to hold it in place. Then, with the tool included, use it to rotate it until it locks, or Latches in place.

By|Jul 27, 2023

Thanks for your question, Nancy. The Lift and Latch technology makes installing the InSinkErator garbage disposal easier than ever. We’ve eliminated the challenge of having to hold the disposal with one hand while adjusting the mounting ring with the other. Lift and Latch features a notch in the disposal body that aligns with a tab on the lower mounting ring to hold it in place, making it easier to install into the sink. Now you can use two hands to lift the disposal and twist it into place. To learn more, you can watch a video guide at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELqo9wY7kbw.

Can this model dispose cut up watermelon rind and skin?

ByMay 2, 2023

Answer This Question

Hi Mike! That's a great question. Yes, it can. Most food waste created in the kitchen, such as vegetable peelings and trimmings, eggshells, coffee grounds, meal scraps, and the like, may be ground in the disposer. For best results, co-mingling food waste in the disposer is recommended. If you need further assistance, feel free to reach out to us via https://support.insinkerator.com/app/ask. Thanks!

Went in really easy! Make sure you put the rubber gasket in or your sink will leak and the disposal will rust!

Started leaking from base of unit in less than 6 months

Hopefully, the one we received is atypical. It was easy to install and runs very quietly. However, in less than 6 months with minimal use it has developed leaks from the base of the unit. I don't want to void the warranty by opening the base even though it seems like it could be a simple fix. Instead it's going to be a major hassle.

Hello Pod8! Thanks for sharing your feedback. It must be inconvenient to have a leaky disposal. We don't recommend opening the base of the unit. Sometimes, the leak may appear from the bottom, but it might be coming from a higher place. To determine where the leak is coming from and assist you further, please contact us via https://support.insinkerator.com/app/ask.

An Easy Drop-in Replacement

It's a garbage disposal and it does what it's advertised to do. My only dislike about the product was the fact that I had to buy and spend money on the included power cord, which was not needed in my application. Unit operates quietly and all items necessary to complete the job are in the box. I enjoyed the fact that this unit came with a rubber gasket as opposed to needing putty for the sink flange. The outer sound shroud interfered with the use of a 90° 1/2" flex conduit elbow as I was only able to turn and get 2 threads before the elbow bottomed out on the casing. This electrical knock-out should be raised or elevated to allow for better clearance as I didn't want to use a 1/2" straight flex conduit connector as this would have impacted the ability for me to be able to use the storage space below. You can purchase a "similar" model from another big box store with an additional 1 yr warranty (10yr vs 9yr) and it also has an auto-reverse feature to even the wear of the blades, but didn't come with the EZ gasket option like this unit did.

Some pros and con.

I thought I would give a try to install myself. Plumber want $500 to install. Crazy. I had a learning curve on getting it hung, Tricky to line up to twist on. Do a dry run before you mount the bracket to the sink. Difficult to line up in a tight space. This model recommended to use the included rubber gasket on the upper sink side of flange and not plumbers putty. At least with my sink it was a total failure. I had the bracket as tight as I could and it leaked. Make sure you fill your sink very full after install. After 6 minutes I noticed a small drip. Obviously I had to pull everything out and reset the sink flange with plumber putty. Success but very time consuming. Had a tough time trying to get the slip ring on the flange while trying to hold all the parts. I used 3 zip ties pulled to the mounting bolts to spread the ring out to fit over flange. Once I had it in position, I snipped the zip ties and the ring snapped into place Fast and easy.

Fantastic unit and super quiet!

My old 18 year old Insinkerator 555SS was on its last leg, grinding loud as all heck and clogged up with gunk that I didn't seem to be able to remove. I purchased this unit after reading up on it and seeing that it would be easy to install. And easy it was! Great to have it come with ALL of the necessary installation parts including the AC cord clamp and wire nuts (which the instructions said were NOT included)! As others have said, the unit is super quiet and yes, I had to shine a flashlight down the drain to confirm that it was actually running when I flipped the switch! One bugaboo was that the power cord is not color coded (hot and neutral) despite indicating such in the instructions. Fortunately, I am perfectly capable of determining which wire is which on my own and completed the wiring without issue. Don't guess at this. Get it right. If unsure, call an electrician!

Less than two weeks old... already rusting!!!

BUYER BEWARE: Yesterday, I turned it on and I heard something that sounded like food partials that just didn't grind. I removed the drain gasket. I saw rust right below and around both blades on the floor of the grinding chamber. Very disappointed!

Hi Sman, thank you for posting a review and we’re sorry to hear that your experience was not up to standards. Grinding components with brown discoloration or surface rust is normal and simply cosmetic. It will not affect the life or performance of the disposer unless it is well outside of the disposer's lifespan. The amount of rust or discoloration varies and is dependent on usage and what may have been put through the disposer. We appreciate you spending the time to share your negative experience with us. If you're having issues with your disposer, please feel free to reach us at https://support.insinkerator.com/app/ask.

missing key part for install

bad luck with inskerator. They appear to have quality control issues. my wife bought a badger 9000 which started making a horrible noise within 3 weeks. I replace it with this model and it's missing the key part for installation.
