It's quebracho blanco (Aspidosperma quebracho-blanco), which is native to Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Bolivia. Jealous Devil sources it from Paraguay. Quebracho blanco charcoal burns hot and it burns for a long time.

How do you start the lump charcoal? Can you use a match or lighter? I don't like using lighter fluid of any kind!
Seriously? Use a fire chimney with newspaper or a firestarter. Let it go until you see the coals turn white (ash up) then dump in your grill.
