        Excellent products but needs better instructions
        I am giving this 4 stars only because the instructions of putting this together are not intuitive. I found a Youtube video which explained how to install the lid, but then the metal portion would get stuck open when you stepped on the pedal. I was only able to remedy this when I found someone else had the same issue and there was a response to his question (hold the lid down and step on the pedal and the metal rod will then snap into place. This is a great trash can when you finally get it put together, but it either needs written instructions, or the youtube video that Rubbermaid links to, needs to have much better instructions.

          Faulty Designed Trashcan Lid!
          [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have always enjoyed using Rubbermaid brand products and have been in need of a trash can. I chose the Rubbermaid Premier Series IV 12.4 Gallon Step-On Trash Can in the color Charcoal. It was nice having the trash can arrive fully assembled. I liked the fact that it contained a step on foot pedal and looks nice sitting in my kitchen, but aside from the beautiful stainless steel aesthetics, has not fully met my expectations as expected. After watching the recommended YouTube video, the instructions didn't seem as simple. My husband and I both tried assembling the lid but decided it had a faulty mechanism. After simply aligning the lid and popping it into place, stepped on the foot pedal and the whole lid pops off. Went back thinking we did something wrong and the same thing keeps happening. Thankfully, My husband knew what to do and rigged the trash can by drilling some holes into it and it now works as expected. The lid definitely has some flaws. I would not recommend this product.

            Love the Look
            [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m loving my new The Premier® Series IV Step-On Trash Can. It looks so modern and sleek. I give it four stars because the lid now sits perfectly and it was a hassle to stay on. I just put tape on the sides to hold it down. Other than that it’s an excellent trashcan and looks super lovely anywhere. The lid is stainless steel and has a quiet close feature which I love. It also has a lock feature that you can use to keep the lid open or closed. It also has interior venting channels inside to make removing heavy trash bags effortless. I definitely recommend this trash can to glass up any space.

              The Best!
              [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely love this trash can! My experience in using it has been wonderful so far. I love the step on feature so that I am able to open it easily without having to touch the lid and I can have a germ-free experience. The lid closes very quietly and gently, so I am able to close it without any unnecessary noise. I love the lock feature as well so that I am able to keep my pets out of it. It is very well built and durable and I know that it will truly stand the test of time. Very highly quality and highly recommended!

                Flawed lid design
                [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was so excited to use this trashcan because if the step lid closure however it didn't live up to my expectations. It took me over an hour to try to figure out how to make the lip open with the foot step. After some research it turns out there are countless bad reviews due to the lid. There is a design flaw that cannot be fixed by the user. I wish i was able to use this as it is meant to but it is impossible. When you step on the foot pedal, it just pops the lid off. So frustrating! I guess i have to use it without the lid.

                  Great Looking Trashcan with a Poor Performing Lid
                  [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Rubbermaid Premier Step-On Series IV trashcan, while aesthetically appealing, really underperformed for us. It all comes down to the plastic on the trashcan not clasping to the plastic studs on the lid. Anytime I tried to attach it, it would only loosely fit and once you pressed down the lid pedal it comes undone and the lid comes off. No matter what we tried, it wouldn't ever fit on and stay attached. This drastically limits our usage of the trashcan in our home. I wouldn't recommend this trashcan to anyone, at least not without making sure the lid isn't defective.

                    It was okay..
                    [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was needing a new trash can due to mine being to small for my new house so I found this one , after reading the reviews I decided to give it a try and honestly I’m disappointed.. no let’s start off by saying this trashcan was so complicated to put together even with a YouTube tutorial video. It took me a good 15 minutes of trying to figure this out before I got my husband and he even took him another good 10 minutes to try to figure this trashcan out. The hardest thing is every time you try and put a new trash bag in it. You have to take it all apart again. The lid doesn’t work whenever I press the button. Nothing is broken on it as I can see it just does not function right half of the time.. hey, it’s made of cheap plastic as I’ve only used it for a week now and it’s already starting to break. Also, it says finger print. Proof in clearly by the photos shown above that is the farthest thing from the truth..

                      Nice trashcan
                      [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Premier® Series IV Step-On Trash Can is a nice trash can after you get it assembled. The instructions for installing the lid are not very clear. You have to attach the lid in a specific way or the lid will completely pop off. The step on feature is nice - the lid closes very slowly. There is a lock feature on the back of the trashcan but I did not see instructions for that feature either.

                        Sleek & modern step on trash can
                        [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Rubbermaid Premier Series IV 12.4 Gallon Step-On Trash Can is nice. I like the charcoal color & stainless steel pedal, rim, & lid looks nice also. It took me a couple of tries to get the lid on even after following the instructions & video, but it finally snapped into place. Now I step on the pedal & the lid lifts up & once I take my foot off, the lid slowly closes. With this trash can, you don’t see the garbage bag. The lid overlaps where the garbage bag is wrapped around the can. It’s easy to lift the lid up to put the bag around the four corners. It fits 13 gallon trash bags. I like that this trash can doesn’t look bulky & it coordinated with my kitchen appliances. It has a lock feature too. You can lock the lid to keep kids & pets out of it by sliding the red switch on the back. This is fairly lightweight & easy to move around. It doesn’t slide across the floor. It’s made of a rigid plastic material.

                          Good size, not bad looking
                          This is a good size for kitchen or patio- 2ft. tall, 16w x 12d in. The inside lid opening is 13.5 x 8.5 in. The charcoal stainless on the lid top and pedal is almost invisible but a nice touch up close. Personally, I prefer it as a patio bin because it has plastic sides. I prefer stainless sides indoors. I like that the lid has a slide lock on the back so it can keep pests out of it when using it outdoors. I recycled the plastic bag it came in as my first liner, but this can cannot hide the fold over of loose bags like that. Just note that the only liner bags it can hide are 13-gal drawstrings that are 2ft wide as it has a very short inner rim under the lid that those bags can fold tightly over and hold. The foot pedal is nice and large, and the lid opens easily and slow-closes. It is a very stable can too. Seems like it will last a long time if the stainless holds up.
