Will this work safely and effectively to polish stainless steel flatware that has a satin finish? Thanks.
    ByMay 7, 2025
    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

The Gator Super Sponge Ultra Fine can be used to polish stainless steel flatware, but it may not achieve a mirror finish. It can effectively remove stains and provide a shine, but for a more polished look, you might need a finer grit sandpaper2. For best results, consider using a combination of the Gator Super Sponge and a polishing compound2.

Is the fine grit enough to take off stains?
      ByJan 27, 2024
      1 Answer |
      Answer This Question

Choosing the right grit sandpaper is crucial for removing stains from wood. Coarser grits (60-100) are great for deep stains, while finer grits (150-220) smooth and polish the wood.

Is 600 grit sandpaper too coarse for removing oxidation on plastic headlight lenses?
              ByJun 1, 2022
              1 Answer |
              Answer This Question

Hi Bill, thanks for your question. This sponge will not work correctly for removing oxidation on your headlight. Removing the oxidation from a plastic headlight lens is a multi step process. There are products specifically designed for headlight oxidation that would work better.

                Good for specific situations
I'm probably not telling anyone anything new if I would say that we all hate sanding. It's tedious, boring and most of all, time consuming. That being said, this little sponge won't replace orbital sanders, but I find that this sponge can remove the swirls and whorls created by random orbital sanders and leaves the surface baby soft and ready for final coat.

                Feels good in my hands
I really don't know anyone that loves the part of woodworking that involves sanding and finishing their wood projects. I particularly hate the part of sanding in-between coats of varnish, shellac, or polyurethane. If this part of the process gets messed up then all that hard work put in will be for naught. This sponge feels good in my hands, and hopefully it will last 20x longer as they claim.

                Super Sponge!
1500 Grit Super Sponge Sanding Sponge, made by GATOR. This sanding block forms really nice in your hand. At 1500 grit, it glides really nice over your wood surface and around the corners of your work. Also as a bonus, they print your grit size on the sponge so you always know which one to grab. It also brings out a nice polish on your finishing touch. It is also easy to clean. Spring is coming, I will buy more of these at differant grits. Recommend!

                It's ok...
Like most people, I hate the mess and time it takes to sand my work prior to finishing. It takes both machine and hand tools to get the best results. Hand tools, in my opinion, are usually reserved for smaller areas of sanding, because of the effort involved. I like using sponge sanders for flat areas. The Gator super sponge feels good in my hands, but their claims of cutting five times faster and lasting 20 times longer are hard to prove. The printing of the grit # on the side is helpful.

                Excellent!
I really like these Gator Super Sponge sandpaper sponges. Trying to hold on to a piece of sandpaper while working with it, even if you wrap it around a piece of wood or something can be a total nightmare. Hard to hold on to. Hurts the hand and fingers etc etc. However, with these sponges you can hold on to the sandpaper, get into little crevices well and really get a good sanding done for whatever project you happen to be working on. I got 2 different types of these, one very coarse and one fine. They make things much easier to finish the job.
