15 Amp Combination Single Pole Toggle Switch with Pilot Light, Wall Plate Included, White (2-Pack)

This is a 110 volt AC - 15 amp single pole switch plus a red 110 volt AC LED indicator light also on the body of the switch. The switch and the LED light are wired in series straight out of the box. If you choose, you can wire the switch and the LED as separate elements by breaking. This particular switch comes with its color matching cover plate and attachment screw. Nice. The LED light is rather dim. If the application is a warning light, it might be better if it was overly bright. The switch is designed for #14 and #12 gauge wire. During my testing, #18 gauge also worked in the clamping connectors. The reason that the #14 wire should be the minimum size, is that the switch can handle 15 amps and the smaller diameter wires might cause the wires to heat up. The installation documentation accompanying the switch was confusing. I finally realized that this single piece of documentation contained installation instructions for 4 different switches beyond this switch. The first two drawings are only for this switch. Of these first two drawings, the left drawing is to have the LED ON when the power is ON. The right drawing has the LED ON when the switch is in the OFF position. This second drawing shows the Source and Load directions through the switch to be reversed from the left drawing and a shunt wire connected from the new Load side of the switch to the Load side of the LED. The LED is ON when switch is OFF could help you locate the switch when the lights are out. This wiring option will have the LED go OFF when the Switch is ON. If this switch controls an LED light fixture, the OFF position may allow the LED light fixture to glow very dimly due to the very small current through the LED light. The switch itself is a “Silent” switch as can be demonstrated if you solidly hold the switch lever and slowly move the switch lever from ON to OFF to ON. There is no internal snapping sound. The snapping feature normally gives you a more solid wire contact inside the switch and gives you a better connection and longer life for the switch. But, this switch does have a snaping action and sound when you toggle the switch lever. The switch LEVER, under normal use, snaps against the BODY of the switch and thus makes a snapping noise. So if you've shopped for light switches lately you may have noticed that the market is being flooded with low quality switches and you can feel it when you use the switch well this switch I didn't have that feeling when I used it, it felt firm not too hard but just firm it engaged off and on firmly and solidly, the light is nice, you can have it wired to the switch so you see the switch from a distance or you can separate the tabs and have it illuminated for another circuit entirely

This switch is made well. It has side or back wire but not stab connections. It uses screws that clamp onto the wire or you can J hook your installation. It can be used to wire single source to 1 load or The light can be used as a night light to make it easy to find in the dark or used to let you know the switch is active. The switch is compact and does not take up more than a normal switch and back wiring leaves room for other switches in a double or more box. The instructions cover several switch formats so choose the one that fits your switch. They are simple for a DIY or a professional. The switch feels solid and is quiet. I like this product very much and highly recommend it.

This 15A switch / indicator can be wired to light up when power is applied or when power is disconnected (referred to as 'night light' - but is is very dim and is a wall switch indicator light, not a night light illuminating a room).
