Questions & Answers
I have a flagstone patio. I don’t want to cut stone and would like another foot of height. Can I pour a 18” x 12” tube with concrete on top of flagstone to anchor the pergola , or if ok what size block would I need under each post.
Absolutely! You can do that. We recommend using concrete footers that are 12" x 12" and 18" deep to provide a stable and secure foundation for your product. If you have any other installation questions, please let us know. We're happy to help! 😊
Why are the main posts hollow and what are they made out of?
We use a hollow box design post to prevent warping. There is an added block at the top of the post to support the hardware connections. Solid posts tend to warp, so we take four boards with opposing grain structure and glue them together using dado joints to keep the post straight. This reduces weight as well with no loss to post strength. The pergola posts and all of the wood parts are made of cedar.
For the Backyard Discovery 16X12 Beaumont Pergola — Model 2101562. What minimum size depth should each individual post footings be to withstand 100 miles per hour winds?
We recommend a concrete pad of 4-6".
What is the center line of each post on the 10’X10’. I need to pour concrete base for each post and want make sure each post is center on the concrete base. Pergola is not going on a slab.

Can it be solid stained
Our 10x14 Traditional Pergola is stained in medium brown. We also highly recommend applying a sealant to our wood products. You can apply an oil-based weather sealant over wood treated with a water-based stain, provided that the stain is completely dry and fully cured. While water-based finishes generally do not adhere well over oil-based products, applying an oil-based finish over a water-based stain is a common and accepted practice in woodworking, as long as proper preparation is followed.
