Questions & Answers

A customer review I read says this saw, tool, only, comes with an Allen to remove and install blade. Is there a dedicated spot on board this tool to store the Alen wrench? like other rigid tools I own. Where is the storage location?

Does ridgid suggest a specific battery size for optimal performance? It’s been a solid year of ownership and I feel from winter to summer my current batteries or saw itself are not performing as expected.

Purchased this saw for Christmas. I contacted Ridgid Tree to purchase the rip guide. They stated they no longer make the rip guide and look else where like Amazon. They have one for the Ryobi that matches the part number and it is more expensive.

                    Good saw for the price
Used this saw for over a year now on a number of moderately heavy tasks. It does well ripping subfloor and OSB and cutting 2x4s. It handled 2x6s,8s, 10s and 12s well too but on pressure treated & wet lumber there were a few times when the blade got stuck and I had to back up but it was only a few seconds of delay There are battery saws out there that will power through but they cost $200 more. Worm drive design is nice for one hand cutting (for right handers) and being able to see the blade.

                      Power
I drained the included 8Ah and 4Ah battery and recharged them when plugged in to a watts-up meter. The 72Wh, 4Ah battery pulled 85.3Wh from the wall with the included charger, The 144Wh, 8Ah battery pulled 163.2Wh from the wall. Assuming a 84.4 charger efficiency, the capacity of both batteries are spot on. The 8Ah battery take 1:45 hours to charge. With the 8Ah battery this saw is a beast.

High hopes but giant flaw if you work in the cold
I just received this saw acouple days. I had high hopes but unfortunately it's disappointing. It does not work if it's colder then -10. The led light flashes and nothing. If you put it somewhere warm it will work for acouple cuts but once it's cold it stops. I will say it's a great feeling saw, nice and smooth. They finally got rid of the plastic blade guard and used all magnesium. I like the push in button safety instead of the push down. Not being able to use it in cold makes it a waste of money in my mind. I can't put inside after every cut. Every other saw I own works in the cold to an extent.

decent cordless rear handle circular saw
this is a decent cordless rear handle circular saw. while I'm not a big fan of battery operated tools, I must confess that it is very convenient and handy to have one around to use on a project. one concern was the amount of power this saw had for tough jobs. so far I've only used it on a small job and it worked very well. it is very adjustable. the blade depth can be adjusted from .25 inch to 2.5 inches. the vertical angle of the cut could also be adjusted from 90 degrees down to around 40 degrees, which is pretty nice. It has a nice guide sight with a little light for dim environments. there are a couple of drawbacks, which I think stems some the basic design of rear handle circular saws. one, is that it is larger than the other kind of circular saw (top handle?). second, it that it is more heavy (the battery doesn't help!). so far it has worked fine for me. a big bonus is the lifetime service guarantee by Ridgid.

Unboxing the Ridgid Brushless Cordless saw.
As many new tools you have great expectations and ideas on how it will work and the jobs it will help accomplish. Imagine then, not finding a manual for use?! This video will show you to ALWAYS check the box completely. Do not throw anything away until you are sure all items are found. The weight of this saw is 9.5 without a battery. So, the battery adds some extra weight. Ridgid says the saw is for right or left-handed users.

                          Very satisfied
I have only used this rigid brushless, cordless, rear handle circular saw once, and I love it. I am comparing this to my old faithful corded right handed circular saw. The first thing I noticed is that you can use this saw with either hand because it is rear handle; however it looks like it should be left handed, but you can use either. I love all of the settings on this saw, everything is clearly marked on the levers (I especially like the angle adjustments). If you are right handed I highly recommend getting the vacuum attachment as all of the saw dust blows right on you. I don't have the attachment, but I will be getting it. The tool has plenty of power, and it is bigger than a normal circular saw. It cuts very nicely and is easy to stay on track for a straight line. The rear handle makes it easier to push it in a straight line and gives you that extra reach at the end of the sheet of plywood. When you let go of the trigger, the blade will stop pretty quick rather than continue to spin. It is also pretty lightweight and easy to use. My only negative that I have found do far. While this won't affect performance it is annoying: the saw dust collects in the battery compartment and you have to dump it out. I worry that this could cause problems over time with the battery connections. I wish it had a cover or a hole straight through. Anyways I highly recommend this saw.

                          Very nice cordless circular saw
This is a non-corded 7-1/4 inch circular saw which includes a multi-purpose carbide tipped saw blade along with a tool to install & replace saw blades period! ….no protective case provided. The saw has a rear-handle similar to what you would find in high end worm driven circular saws. I do wish Ridgid would have marketed this brushless circular saw also as a kit which typically would come with a high impact molded case along with charger and at least one high amperage 18-volt lithium-ion battery. The circular saw has a built-in safety along with a dust chute where you can attach a vacuum hose attachment to minimize saw dust expelled when sawing. This Ridgid branded saw comes advertised with a lifetime warranty against breakage given normal use. Balanced nicely and runs quite smoothly with minimal vibration. Bevel cuts are extremely easy to complete due to it’s easy to adjust plate. As for the “lifetime warranty” do NOT believe everything you read. I have had many, many fruitless moments obtaining warranty repairs and replacement battery issues even after enrolling and submitting actual invoices. Ridgid occasionally has a very nasty habit of giving the consumer the runaround getting warranties honored. Hopefully things have gotten better as I bring this to their attention.
