About This Product

This floating drum is a 1-piece seamless construction, rotationally molded with 0.15-in. thick walls. Top-quality virgin polyethylene with ultraviolet inhibitors guarantees sturdiness and long-lasting use. This premium float can be used as a replacement on existing docks or as the key element to a brand-new dock. Whether you install it on a wood dock, an aluminum or steel structure, the heavy-duty fabrication of this float will resist saltwater, sun, oil and gas spills, hence our 15-year limited warranty. These floats are filled with closed-cell expanded polystyrene (EPS).

- On wood docks, attach the floats with large washers underneath the frame to 2 in. thick boards so lumber and hardware stay above water, see our 12-pack of 3/8 in. x 4 1/2 in. lag bolts with 1 3/4 in. washer (item number 22163) available
- This float has a molded-in groove on its bottom to allow the installation of a skid, enabling the ease of sliding the dock on the ground. Mounting of the skid is done by adding 2 long rods (not included) through the center slots
- Allows to choose from 12 slot locations on the extra thick 1-3/4 in. mounting flange for the attachment on the dock

Can this float be installed both lengthwise AND crosswise?
Hello Pete, yes you can install them lengthwise and crosswise. If you install your floats in a river, position them so that the current can easily flow between them. When designing a wood dock layout, plan ahead the float supports positions based on the technical drawing on this page that shows the available attachment slots. If this 5 ft long float is to be installed on an aluminum dock such as QPF-495 which is 5 ft.x 10 ft., they will be bolted crosswise in both sides of the dock structure using the 4 corner attachment slots.
