Can your faux ceiling beam be painted
Yes, our beams can easily be painted on site. We would recommend ordering the primed tan finish if you intend to paint on site
Can you stain the ready to paint beam?
Yes, this beam can be stained. It's important to use a high-quality gel stain for the best results, as a regular wood stain won't absorb properly into the polyurethane material. If you prefer to paint, a high-quality acrylic latex paint is recommended.
I purchased 4 beams 2 14ft 2 18ft color was way off. We gel stained them and they are taking a long time to dry why us this? We used Varathane premium which says it's OK to use?
Can you stain the unfinished beam or do you have to use paint?
Thank you for your interest in this product! Yes, this beam can be stained. You do not have to use paint. If you choose to stain the beam, it is important that you use a high quality gel stain for the best results. A wood stain would not be ideal because it would not be able to seep into the beam the way a wood stain could. A gel stain is ideal for non-porous surfaces like these beams. If you do opt for a paint after all, we recommend using a high quality acrylic latex paint. Best of luck on your project!
What are the inside dimensions of this U-beam?
Thank you for your interest in our products. Each panel side of the beam is approximately 1" thick. For a U-shaped beam, you would take the overall width less the thickness of each side to determine the inside width. For a 6" wide beam, the inside width would be approximately 4" wide. Since there is only one panel on the bottom of the U, the inside height would be about 5". Due to the nature of manufacturing the panels, slight variances are normal; we allow for a +/- 1/4" variance. The absolute widest beam we would recommending wrapping this with would be a 4" wide by 5" tall beam. If this would not fit your application, please see your local Home Depot Pro Desk Team Member. Does this beam come with one finished end?
Thanks for reaching out. Both ends of this beam are unfinished/open, as they typically both end into a wall. The beam installs easily and hassle-free with wood blocking, construction adhesive, and finishing nails. They are able to customize these beams with endcaps, if need be. What is the type of wood and color?

These realistic faux wood beams are manufactured from polyurethane, which is a long-lasting, sturdy, easy-to-install material.
