Tinner12002, Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, this is not something that has been tested with our products, so we are unable to provide a recommendation or specific guidance regarding this application. A few things to keep in mind: Deckorators decking requires proper ventilation and drainage to help ensure long-term performance. Adequate drainage is important to prevent water from pooling beneath the deck. Be sure not to block the gaps between deck boards, as these gaps allow for proper airflow and water drainage. Additionally, follow all recommended joist spacing and installation guidelines for Summit decking. -Your Deckorators Team
Paul, Yes. Summit and Voyage decking are both manufactured with Deckorators' Surestone® Technology, so they have very similar low thermal movement characteristics. Both product lines are engineered for minimal expansion and contraction, helping maintain consistent board spacing and stability through temperature changes. As with any decking product, be sure to follow the installation instructions for proper gapping and fastening requirements. -Your Deckorators Team
Hey Cutting, For the best results, use a sharp carbide-tipped general-purpose or combination blade with a positive rake angle. Deckorators recommends a 40T-80T blade for a 12" saw or a 24T-60T blade for a 10" saw, with a 60-tooth combination blade producing the best overall results in testing. Many installers prefer to turn the board upside down when making cuts, since the blade enters from the bottom and exits through the finished face, helping minimize any minor fraying on the visible surface. When cutting, make a smooth, swift and steady pass through the material rather than forcing the saw slowly through the board. Moving too slowly can create excess friction and heat, which may leave a rougher edge or increase the chance of minor material buildup along the cut. If a small fiber, burr, or thin thread of material remains after cutting, it can be easily trimmed away with a sharp utility knife. As a final best practice, square-cut both factory ends before installation, removing approximately 1/2" to 1" from each end to ensure clean, square edges. -Your Deckorators Team
Hi Cesar, yes, this Deckorators Summit composite deck board is designed for outdoor use. It is water resistant and engineered to withstand exposure to the elements. The product is even warranted for installation near water or in-ground applications, making it suitable for decks, docks, and other outdoor projects. It also resists fading, staining, cracking, and splintering. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's installation guidelines to allow for proper drainage and ventilation. -Your Deckorators Team
Hi Kevin, yes, the Summit Boulder Brown boards sold through Home Depot are made with Surestone technology. Deckorators states that all Summit Decking is manufactured with its Surestone mineral-based composite technology, and Boulder Brown is a Summit color. Home Depot simply describes the product as a mineral-based composite (MBC) deck board and highlights the performance benefits rather than using the Surestone trademark name. It's the same Summit product—the retailer's product page just uses different marketing terminology. -Your Deckorators Team
Hello Steve, yes, you can drill pilot holes and screw Deckorators Summit composite decking directly into your existing wood joists, provided the framing is structurally sound and meets the required joist spacing. Our boards requires approved composite deck screws with two fasteners at each joist, and face-screwing is an accepted installation method for square-edge boards. Pilot holes are especially helpful near board ends to ensure clean fastening. Just be sure you're fastening into the joists, not the main support beams, and verify the joists are spaced no more than 16 inches on center for a standard residential installation. - Your Deckorators Team
