Are these the correct filters for the HD1409 that is sold in the store?

I am unsure those. The ones i have been using for years home depot sells is the HDC12 SUPERWICK . I have very hard water and will use 3 to 4 sets in a season.

Since I can't find my instructions for my 5D6700 AirCare does CF mean clean filter or change filter.How to clean.

No, it mean check filter, or wick. If the wicks look good and nothing growing on them, unplug your unit for about 15 seconds and plug back in and your good to go. NOTE: don't be cheep if the wick don't look good change them, you do not want to breath contaminated anything. My advice, change out wicks every season!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I had trouble putting the wicks into the unit and closing the wick chambers. The top did not want... I had trouble putting the wicks into the unit and closing the wick chambers. The top did not want to latch properly and stay down. Perhaps when the wicks are wet they will compact more but I won't be using the unit until Fall. I use the proper antibacterial and plan to get a season's worth of use out of these wicks. They are rather flimsy and I would not recommend handling them while wet.

Although they fit perfectly in the box, neither the box nor the filters are strong enough to sustain anything but perfect shipping/handling. I was expecting OEM or off-the-shelf substitutes (example: what can be bought off the Depots shelves) to be overboxed. I was expecting either Kenmore brand, which I've bought at Home Depot previously, or like quality substitute. Technically the ones supplied will work, but IMO they aren't as good as the OEM...they weren't as flexible and seemed to require more work than I remember installing them.Again, they'll work...but I'll probably try another supplier next time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from We have had our AIRCARE humidifier for several years and it works fairly well to moisten the atmo... We have had our AIRCARE humidifier for several years and it works fairly well to moisten the atmosphere in our home during the cold winter months. These paper wicks apparently help the vaporization process by exposing the absorbed water to the draft of the fans, something like a mini cooling tower at a nuclear plant. The drawback is that after a time they seem to clog up with deposits and sediment left behind from our water and have to be replaced at twenty bucks a set. I think you or the manufacturer should offer a synthetic product which could be rinsed and re-used or a different mechanical system to help vaporize the water. It is only after we notice that the air is dry and the water is not being absorbed that we check and find these paper filters are nasty and clogged and have lost their function. The sound of the fans running in the machine is NOT an indicator of proper operation. This requires another trip to Home Depot and another twenty dollars to remedy. I understand this approach is very good for your 'bottom line' but not for mine. If this country can land a machine on Mars to send back photos and information to us, surely it can make a humidifier that doesn't require constant attention to keep my household air healthy and tolerable. I would gladly add to your 'bottom line' for it if you had one to offer.
