Q:My Anvil 64 inch pruner seems to have gotten locked in the closed position after successfully cutting a branch today. Any tips for getting it to release back to the open position? Or should I return it? It was my first day using it.

      Unbelievable!
These unbelievable tough pruners are great for most trees up to 3 inches or how strong you are! These are way tougher than I thought. Use the small midway handle for smaller or easier branches or shrubs. The handle at the end gives you more chopping like power for bigger stuff. I highly recommend this product for any homeowners that have gardens that need the extra care!

High quality, well designed tree pruner
Anvil 64 in. Tree Pruner If you have mature trees on your property, eventually you will need to trim the branches- either to remove dead limbs or cut away unwanted foliage. The taller the tree, the more difficult that becomes. The Anvil Tree Pruner can be very helpful in meeting those needs. Unlike many pruners that have pull ropes to operate the cutting blade, the Anvil Pruner utilizes a slide grip to operate the blade. This improved design lets you use both hands to maneuver the tool. You can use the cutting grip at either the middle or end of the pole. With over a 5 ft length, this should help keep you off the ladder.

Smaller sized tree pruner with slide mechanism instead of a pull-rope
This is a small, light weight pruner that uses a slide mechanism to cut instead of a pull-rope. The advantage of this pruner is that it is easier to lift and even when cutting you have both hands on the pole instead of one hand on the pull-rope used on larger pruners. The pole extends and locks into position for stability. Not having the pull rope (that hangs and tangles) makes this a nice design.

Works great for long or short limbs
Really handy for keeping shrubs and short trees under control. We did not need a lengthy trimmer for shrubs and trees, and this one really worked out well. If you need to get a bit higher, simply drag out your stepladder. The blades are carbon steel and work very well. They can also be operated from either handle - the one in the middle of the extension or the handle at the base of the tool. We have cut up to 1 ½” limbs and with no trouble at all. And the locking system keeps the pole from sliding, a very handy idea. And with the two pull handles, it makes easy to cut long or short limbs. Very handy.

      Really good
I’m actually impressed, I really didn’t think it was going to be able to stand up to the abuse, but I have to say that it is really well made and Very sturdy Just from looking at it and using, if you can tell that they use quality materials when they made it. Also It’s very easy to clean, and very lightweight. Very sharp, really good. And I totally recommend picking one of these up..

Cuts up to 3/4 inch easy, not so good on larger limbs
Packaging states cuts up to inch and 1/4 size branches. Largest I could get it to cut was 3/4". It seems to be cheaply made and I was not impressed with it, but it does cut medium branches fairly easy and the pole extended does allow you to trim up the smaller branches. I would only recommend to friend if they were only expecting to cut smaller branches up to 3/4inch.

      Junk
This pruning cutter is an absolute junk. I did not use for anything big, just fruit trees work. It failed after about hundreds cuts, about 1 inch thick. Waste of money and resources.

        Must have
This Anvil 64 inch tree pruner is a must have for any home owner with a bunch of trees and doesn’t want to pay an arm and leg for tree trimming. 64” reach can get to most low hanging branches. Cuts a max of 1 1/4” branches which is plenty for those lower ones. 2 cutting methods. A middle handle for lower branches and a bottom pull for full reach branches. Its light weight design makes it easy to lift and maneuver. Super sharpe blades. Lock knob that allows for angel change of the cutting head. Definitely recommend.

          Cuts like butter!
A tree pruner must be capable, and this one does a great job. I was trimming some dead branches when my neighbor stopped by to ask if he could borrow the pruner when I was done. When he finished we noticed the neighbor across the street on a ladder trying to prune his tree and offered him this pruner. Long story short, we put this pruner through its paces and it was extremely successful! The head of the pruner can be adjusted to be in-line with the pole or at an angle to the pole if needed. It uses a metal cable connected to a flat rope to actuate the cutting motion. There are 2 plastic pieces on the pole that you pull on to cause it to cut. One in the middle that slides over the pole, and at the base of the pole, you can pull that towards you to cut something high in the tree. Overall, all 3 of us had good things to say about this pruner. Very pleased.
