Q:What is the risk if a clamp was to be ?over-tightened? meaning it sits flush into the go-no go gauge?

    Answer This Question

A:  If you cannot obtain one "Go" reading on the Go-No/Go Gauge after making a crimp, you will need to recalibrate your tool, remove the crimped crimp ring, and redo.

          Impractical and calibrated incorrectly
With the nearly 180° arm opening, this tool is impossible to use in any somewhat tight space or corner (you need a good 2ft width and plenty of space for your arms). The force came calibrated incorrectly, as the first several crimps I made were on the high end. The numbers on the force dial are reversed from what the directions say, so higher number is less force, and it came set at 0 (the most force). It took considerable effort and banging to even adjust the dial and lower the force.

            not for tight spaces
good tool if you have plenty of room to work. the handle has to open very wide. it won't work with a manifold made by apolo. Apollo tool, Apollo rings, Apollo manifold.. who made this stuff?

              Not practical for house plumbing
The handles open 180° with this tool making it nearly impossible to fit inside walls to do corners or T connections. Only good for doing well exposed pex with clearance. Useless for pex inside framing. I strongly recommend buying shark bites instead for your 90 corners and T connections. An angle grinder is a must have with this tool to cut off botched pex rings. This happens often as the tool must be perfectly straight in order to get a good crimp. I find myself more frustrated with this tool that satisfied. At least it’s made well, just not a good design.

I just recently installed two whole house water filters using 1” PEX tubing. The crimper worked great right out of the box with no adjustments. The only “issues” I had were that the handles were a little stiff on initial use; but, wasn’t a deal breaker for me. Second, was that it was tricky to hold the crimp collar in the jaws with it moving around on the PEX tubing before you can get your hands on both handles. Otherwise a good crimper.

Works great hard to get into small spaces with the tool.but for all the open easy to get to areas works great.

Although it worked very well in order to add garage sink plumbing, this tool is very expensive, and I do not plan to use it very much in the future. My Lennar builder decided to put pop valves in all the bathrooms, and sink areas in my house, and I expect that they will fail at some point because they are cheap junk. In that case I may have to use the tool again in the future if those fixtures fail.

Quick and easy! Small spaces are tough but mostly not impossible.
