install in ground

what's the easiest way to install this without having to get someone to dig a hole is there anything that can be knocked into the ground and hold this post ?
Asked by: itsme
Yes, you can buy a 24" post anchor,it fits a 4x4, and pound it in the ground. I would recommend attaching about a one foot piece of 4 x 4 in the spike and then sliding your post over it and drilling holes in the bottom to attach it

Will a 7600 R mailbox fit on this post?

Will a 7600 R mailbox fit on this post?
Asked by: Cameron
Hello, we do not recommend installing the 7600R mailbox on the 5105S 46-1/2 in. Standard In-Ground Post due to the USPS height requirements. The handle would most likely not meet USPS installation requirements if you use the 46-1/2 inch post, so we recommend the 5525S 53 in. Galvanized Steel 1-Mailbox Post. The 7600R mailbox is also compatible with these Architectural Mailboxes posts (no mounting bracket required) containing these model numbers: 5526, 7507, 7516, 7511, 7510, 7513. Thanks for reaching out!

Architectural Mailboxes 46-1/2 in. Steel Standard Graphite Bronze Mailbox Post is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 51.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Purchased with the "Architectural Oasis Post-Mount or Column-Mount Locking Mailbox in Black with ... Purchased with the "Architectural Oasis Post-Mount or Column-Mount Locking Mailbox in Black with Outgoing Mail Indicator" mailbox to make a sturdy installation. It matches perfectly to the mount pattern for bolts, BUT did not include any bolts (screws), nuts, or washers! Went back to store and got 4 - 3/8th, 1-inch screws with double lock washers & nuts and this came out to perfect length protruding under box. One bag of quickrete was sufficient securing this 48.3 pound mailbox & post in place....

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too short The post is well made and looks good, but is too short. According to the USPS website "mailboxes should be installed at a height of 41-45 inches from the road surface to the bottom of the mailbox." With the post being 46.5", at a height of 41" only 5.5" are left for anchoring. At 45" above ground a ridiculous 1.5" is left. I cheated and put my box at 38", giving me a whopping 8.5" in hte ground. The hole is 15" wide and filled with concrete and there is rebar going up into the pole, I also drllled holes in the post to put two 12" pieces of rebar into it horizontally. It still wobbles. Not worth the price. I would not buy again, nor can I recommend it to others.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well, it's a post... I purchased this post to go with the mailbox by the same manufacturer. The colors matched exactly, the metal is heavy enough gauge that it is pretty solid and with the paint I do not see a need for maintenance for some time to come. I intend to eventually put a planter or shrubs around it to spiff it up a bit. I haven't measured but am pretty sure a majority of two piece planters will fit around the base when the time comes and that is the route I go. The biggest gripe I would have is that I wish it were a bit taller to allow more of a base to sit in the concrete I put it in. For my local regulations (be sure to check the street proximity and height requirements or your town / neighborhood) a majority of the post needed to be above ground allowing only about 6 inches of post in concrete. Maybe that is enough and maybe I'm just a guy who prefers to overbuild everything? Regardless, now that the 'crete has dried it is solid to the touch and does not wobble at all. Much more sturdy than most wood or plastic posts on the street I'd guess.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is not a complete pole. you still need a 4x4 post that it slides over. I mistakenly though this was a complete pole. The entire pole is 47 inches, and post guidelines want the mailbox to be 41-45 inches. This does not give you enough material underground to hold. So, I believe this is being sold more as a veneer, like several other mailbox poles being sold. A 4x4 pole will fit inside it, and you really need a 4 foot, 4x4 ideally . I wound up buying some angle with the holes in it and drilled and bolted it to this pole. I did not want anything organic in the ground. I extended it by ~2 feet and set it in concrete. My finished pole came out 43 inches and is completely sturdy. I'm happy with the finished product. The bronze pole matches my mailbox perfectly and has a very simplistic look. I also liked it was powder coated and not regular paint. I also replaced the hex bolts it came with to secure the mailbox, with carriage bolts, 3/8 x 1 inch. I had to drill out my actual mailbox's holes a little, for the carriage bolts modification. But I do not have four large hex nut sticking out, in the mailbox. I used the rest of the washers and nuts that came with it. In the end, a lot more work then I though. I was just expecting to dig a hole and set it, and fill it with quick setting cement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A MUST HAVE for your mailbox This post is required if you want your mailbox to be free standing and not enclosed in concrete or stone. I needed a mailbox with a lock (Architectural Mailboxes Oasis Post Mount Mailbox) and found one for $98 at Home Depot. The box did not specify clearly you need to purchase a post. The box showed one picture with the mailbox on a post and another with it encased in stone. I did not see the posts at the store so I ordered it online. Fortunately, it did ship quickly. The post is very heavy and durable. Once it got cemented in from the bottom, the post was solid and the mailbox was very sturdy, barely moves. Overall great product, both mailbox and post.
