A: Hello - Because of the possibility of corrosion, we do not recommend using aluminum rivets with steel - Your Arrow Fastener Team
A: No rivet is waterproof however, these rivets are aluminum so they won't rust. If you want to seal the top of the rivets after installing your flashing I put a small amount of Loctite PLS30 Flashing Sealant HomeDepot # 1675273 over the rivets for a long lasting leak proof seal.
A: Hello - These rivets are rust and corrosion resistant and work for outdoor applications. - Your Arrow Fastener Team
A: The pop rivet should be longer than the two pieces you are trying to join. If overly long, the rivet may not grip well so there is a trade-off -- You should use the rivet that is slightly longer than the thickness of the pieces you are joining. You may find that a too-short rivet cannot spread out enough to produce a strong grip (tug at the joint to see that it is tight). Be prepared to remove (drill out) your first rivet if the size you selected was too short or too long. If you can see both sides of the joint before "popping" the rivet, verify that there is enough showing on the blind side to spread out as the pin is pulled through. When the pop rivet is popped, the amount on the blind side should be similar to the outside or finished side. Don't worry about spoiling one pop rivet.
A: Yes, but it also depends on the guage, I repaired my aluminum bahama shutters with 1/8 rivets and it did the job,the shutters are 25 gauge.
A: Hello, Arrow rivets are sold by hole size diameter and grip length size (Short: 1/8” grip length size; Medium: ¼” grip length size; Long: ½” grip length size). It sounds like you are inquiring about grip length size. Since we don’t know the thickness of the sheet metal you are using, please lay two sheets together and measure the total thickness. Arrow rivets are sized to allow for the bulge side compression. If your total work thickness is 1/8” or less, use the short rivet in your choice of head diameter. If the thickness is over 1/8” but less than ¼”, use the medium rivet, If between ¼” and 1/2”, use the long grip length size.
