how can I air auto tires

When the air station is plugged in, with the clamp thing flipped down, air does seem to go in. However, having to wrestle it off leads to air leaking out again. My car suddenly showed the low pressure icon, so (based on the warning in the owner's manual) I felt I had better not drive anyplace. (it was very cold outside, and I was away from home). Temp is now in upper 30's and it should be possible for it to be filled. (I think)
Asked by: Joe
Plug in cord, , set psi needed in tires, attach to tire valve and turn it on. It will shut off automatically when proper air is reached.

Pros: 1) Can be plugged into both an auto's 12 volt accessory receptacle and a standard 120 volt wall receptacle. 2) Unit will turn off automatically once the desired pressure is reached Cons: 1) The location of the power button should be moved to the front of the unit or just about anywhere else on the unit other than where it is. The power button is located in the back of the unit inside the area where the 12 volt cord is kept. Which means in order to turn the power on or off, the 12 volt cord needs to be pulled out of it's enclosure to gain access even if you don't intend on using 12 volt cord. In addition, the power button sits below where the cord connects to the unit so even when you pull the cord out to get access to the power button, the cord is still in the way. 2) The length of the 120 volt cord is only 19 inches which means you'll need an extension cord in order to use it around the house or in your garage or just about anywhere else you'll be plugging it in to a 120 volt receptacle. 3) The pressure gauge is analog and therefore it is difficult to set the exact pressure at which you want the unit to turn off. 4) The accuracy of the pressure gauge appears to be outside the stated range. This apparent inaccuracy is probably the result of the gauge dial being analog. The instructions say the gauge is accurate to +/- 3%. In my testing I've found the accuracy of the uni to fall within the +/- 7%-10% range. This means that for a standard tire pressure of 35 psi, the actual pressure the tire would be inflated to could range from -3 psi to +3 psi or 32-38 psi. Again, although the gauge instrument itself may be as accurate as stated, the analog dial makes it difficult to achieve that accuracy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved the Day When I woke up to a flat tire I thought I would lose a day from work. Our use the compressor on my tire took only a few minutes and was very easy to use. It safely inflated the tires after I set the amount .in Easley went back into its container and back into the trunk of my car. I was able to get to work and deal with a flat tire later.

A bit slow when trying to get bicycle and auto tires to pressure. Auto tire accuracy was within 3-4 pounds (PSI) of actual. The instructions do recommend to check the tire pressure with an air gage. I am OK with this. A good value and would buy it again. I like the auto Nshut off feature.

If others have had an issue this their unit, it must have been just that particular unit. I've used it mainly to inflate my tires on my cars (2000 Civic and 2005 Corolla), and it has done an exceptional job! For $30 bux, you can't expect more. Are there better air compressors out there? Yes! Are there faster inflators? Absolutely. You get what you pay for. It took about 2 minutes to inflate my tire from 20 PSI to 35 PSI. For $30 bux, I'm ok with that. Had this cost $100 or more, I'd be returning it right away! It's small and convenient to carry around and store in your garage. It had a knob dialer to set you desired PSI (pressure). Once you turn it on, it will inflate to the desired PSI and shut off on its own. It has both 12 volts (cigarette light) cord, as well as 120 volts (home) plug. The 120V plus is only about a foot long, so if you're intending to plugin it into your wall, you will need an extension cord. It is loud, just like any other air compressor. It also has a very convenient grip handle in the back where the on/off switch is at. It helps to carry it around with ease as you move from one tire to the other. Like I said, it's great value for the price, I love it!
