Previous answer is incorrect as this is -not- pine needles. Wheat straw grows like grass, pine needles come off the trees.

        Fine pine straw
Some sticks…not many pine cones… good pine straw. Not great but perfectly fine.

The worst pine straw. I could have just pulled up some two year old pine straw from one of my beds and been better off. It’s is complete garbage. Filled with sticks and what looks like straw husks, lots of grass. Terrible quality, they should be embarrassed to pass this off to the consumer.

My order was delivered via uber. No one was supposed to be needed at home for this delivery to be completed…the driver texted and said they were leaving if someone didn’t come out. The driver insisted on taking the bales of straw out of their protective bags because he wanted the bags to keep for himself. We asked him to leave them in the bags as it was obvious that some of the bales were broken. What we ended up with was a pile of loose straw in our drive that we had to try to clean up and salvage. As soon as the delivery was completed on Nov 6th, I filled out the survey from Home Depot about the poor service and damaged bales…I still have heard nothing from the company. I would expect better customer survey. Very bad experience.

            Update 2025- much improved
I wrote a review back in 2018 about excessive debris in every bale of pine straw. 2 years ago I bought from a local garden center and the price was shocking @ 9 or 10 dollars a bale! It had debris, but not as bad as my 2018 purchase. Fast Forward to Feb. 2025 at the Celebration Station location.I bought 12 bales after I took a look from a distance at the bales. Deciding to give them another chance especially with the better price over the garden center. Wow! Huge improvement over last time! I have put out 7 of my12 bales, and only found 2 pine cones and minimal branches. The color was good too. Just very small amounts of older looking pine straw. Anyways this purchase was a great value due to Home Depot’s fair price on the is item.
