Check out the straw before they load it. Some of it falls apart and is more like powder when spreading.
It is priced by the bale and by location, currently where I am it sells for around $7.50 so $5.67 is a good price for a bale.

All depends on how you spread the straw, but do not over do it; a light application is sufficient to hold moisture and build heat to speed up germination. These bales are large and goes a long way. I store leftovers in a 55 gal. Trash bag for later use.
