This steel raised garden bed connection kit is a easy to install kit of metal hinges to connect the corners of a raised bed (wood boards sold separately). The corners are the most common failure point of raised beds so this kit is made from sturdy steel which is plastic coated for rust protection. You have the flexibility to make any size raised bed, from one tier, to two tiers and safely up to 3 tiers high. Single tier raised beds are ideal for all salad crops and 2-3 tiers high are generally for deep rooted vegetables.

What width board can be used(not thickness)or how tall are the connection pieces?

Good Morning, You can use what ever width of wood you would like. The connection Pieces are 2 1/2 inches tall. Bosmere Raised Bed Connection Kit Instructions 1. Remove all pieces from the package. You should have 8 brackets, 4 long pins and 16 black screws. 2. Using the screws, mount one bracket each to the top corner ends of the two shorter pieces of your lumber. (ex: the two short sides of your planter- the loop should face out, parallel to the edge of your wood- see illustration) 3. Using the screws, mount one bracket each to the bottom corner ends of two long pieces of your lumber (ex: the two longer sides of your planter- the loop should face out, parallel to the edge of your wood- see illustration) 4. Assemble your planter sides allowing the two brackets to overlap at each corner. 5. Insert the long pin and hammer using a mallet into each corner of your planter. 6. Place your planter in your selected location, fill it with good, healthy dirt, a little compost and plant away!

How long are the spikes? Are the spikes used for driving into the ground?

The portion of the spike that is driven into the ground is about 2 inches. The remainder of the spike is used to hold the hinges.

If there are no instructions, how do you know how to put it together? I am 65 years old. Will. I have to hire someone ?

Screw heads broke off. Screw heads that didn’t break off started to rust. If building standard box, just use standard support clips (found by hurricane clips in Lumber section).

These brackets require the use of a 1 inch thick board while all standard lumber is really 1-1/2 as in 2X6. Other than that, they looked heavy but was not about to buy 1 inch this boards to span 8 feet with a mounds of dirt behind it.Sorry, these really did not state that in the write up.
