Could this (or possibly a larger) Cable Cuff Pro be used to fasten a float switch in a septic tank? My installer uses zip ties which have "dissolved" in less than three years. He claims there is nothing else on the market to secure the float switch other than zip ties which dissolve because of the methane gas emitting from the septage. He says all metal parts need to be stainless steel.

          Answer This Question

The larger one will clamp a soft 50 foot piece of coiled garden hose. If that thickness works, this should work. I would worry that since this is plastic like the zip ties, it might get soft and dissolve over time too. I would just use more zip-ties, or old electrical cable with the insulation stripped off and tied in a knot instead. Old Cable TV cable might be a good tie since it has multiple layers of wires and insulation.

You can try.Remember that this is a hard plastic and it's probably stronger than the tie down. The tiedown gets brittle in time and and one day is just gonna snap on you.

Why not use stainless steel zip ties and never have to worry about it again? https://www.homedepot.com/s/stainless%2520steel%2520zip%2520tie?NCNI-5

Thank you for your question. The small Cable Cuff PRO is for up to 1" bundles, the medium for up to 2" bundles, the large for up to 3" bundles, and the MEGA Cuff is for up to 4" bundles. They are constructed from polycarbonate/ABS with stainless steel fastening pins and screw. Because the body of the clamps are much thicker than zip ties and they utilize stainless steel, the Cable Cuff PROs should last much longer than standard zip ties if they can be used for your application.

                Answer This Question

The cuff works like a handcuff. Once you have the entire cable rolled into a complete loop, like a rope, you place the cuff around the loop until it tightens down (like a handcuff). When you want to use the cord push down on the clip near the handle and the cuff opens releasing it's grip on the entire cord.

This is like a single handcuff, as if you were carrying a rope in a loop. You push down on the trigger and the cuff opens. Roll your cord/cable into a loop, like a rope, and place the cuff around the around the cord. To use the cord just push the trigger again to open the cuff up again.

Tie a string or cord in a loop through the D-ring so you can hang it on a hook on a wall for storage.

The D ring can be used for hanging the stored cable if desired.

This is not want you think it is. It's a plastic unit that works like a handcuff to go around an extension cord, etc. Roll the extension cord into a loop, like a rope, and place the cuff around the entire loop and tighten it down. When you want to use the cord push down on the trigger near the grip and the cuff opens from the cord.

I HAVE SEVERAL OF THESE AND I USE THEM ONLY ON EXTENSION CORDS. I DON'T THINK THEY ARE MEANT TO TAKE MUCH WEIGHT.

Can't imagine using it as a hitch. It's made of plastic. It is used for securing an electrical or audio cable while not in use.

It is just plastic, I would not trust it for a lot of weight. It has been strong enough to clamp cables for me, but I could probably break it with my bare hands if you tried hard enough. Not sure of an actual rating though.

You roll up or fold the cable, and put the cable cuff around it for storage.

Just unlock it and put the cable, wire or extension cord back in back in.The serrated part of the cuff will be secure inside and lock it.

As a musician who deals with cables daily, the Cable Cuffs are a delight. I use dozens of them to manage my audio and speaker cables. In the past, the only issue has been the release button breaking. The new Cable Cuff Pro is interesting, because the release button is recessed, and much less likely to break. If you are a musician, you need Cable Cuffs.
