Q:Can this be used to install into aluminum framing of a screened in porch?

Answer This Question

A:  i do not think so, unless it is design to handle the guide wires for support.

by|Jun 26, 2022

A:  I won't recommend it since the wind can tear up the siding. The location you install it should be very strong.

Q:Can these be used to install on concrete or will a different set of screws be needed for that?

A:  Good question Gabriela, you'll need concrete screws to install in concrete.

      by|Apr 17, 2021

A:  You’ll need to purchase set screws

        by|May 23, 2021

A:  Yes, This would work fine with the correct concrete screws or anchors.

        by|May 19, 2021

A:  You will need concrete screws.

        by|Apr 8, 2021

A:  It depends. Typically, I would use something like tapcons in concrete. However, if this is outside, exposed to the elements, I'd use stainless steel fasteners. If there is very little tension on the screws, you might get away with drilling, and using plastic inserts to insert the screws ito. But if there is more of a load, I'd look at finding a heavier duty stanless fastener, or even a drop in concrete anchor to hold them. You can usually find such fasteners at Home Depot that would fit the holes in the brackets. Then you could just drill an appropriate sized hole and drive the drop in fasteners with your hammer. But tapcons are a possible alternative.

A:  Not sure what you mean by corner brackets but connection is made with this kit by using the quick connect clips on one side of the sail and the adjustable turn buckles on the other. All connections are made to the loops in the 4 mounting brackets.

A:  I guess I'd have to know more of your details. You must have some kind of structure on your deck???

Q:Where canni find the poles to attach shade sails you cant attach all three corners to a house?

        Answer This Question

A:  Thanks for asking Bob, you'll likely be able to find poles at your local Home Depot! You'll be looking for a wooden post at least 4" x 4" and a steel post at least 4" schedule 40. These values can vary depending on typical weather conditions in your area.

        by|Jul 28, 2020

A:  Check at your local lumber yard for the best material for height needed.

          by|May 28, 2021

A:  I am using 4 x 4 posts. I have also seen several recommendations for using 2in Conduit (10'L). My install is min. 10'H for aesthetic looks, so I had to go with a longer post/pole.

          by|May 28, 2021

A:  Check for videos on YouTube. They show how to properly mount a pressure-treated 4X4 in the ground to mount the other corners.

          by|Jul 23, 2021

A:  I used 4x4 pressure treated posts set in two foot holes with concrete

You defnitely need a kit like this if you are going to properly mount a shade cloth. The stainless steel is weather resistant and should stand up well to the differing weather conditions that may occur. One real problem, though, is the length of the wood screws they provide. Considering that this is supposed to hold a shade sail up and keep it in place through rain and wind, the teeny 1/8" by 1.25" long screw does not even start to be adequate. I would recommend at least a 2.5" or a 3" construction screw to hold the guy rings in place. Another failing is the lack of eyelets on the turnbuckle. I would prefer an eyelet. Maybe I just want to over-engineer things, but I have been through too many wind storms and micro bursts.

I received the Colourtree stainless steel installation kit a week ago and I am excited to set up my sun shade canopy. Altogether there are eight pieces. Since there are no instructions I have to figure out where each piece goes. There are four similar pieces that seem like they need to be attached to walls, two that look like anchors and two connectors. One plus is that all screws and washers are included.

This kit to hang a shade sail was exactly what I was looking for. It comes with 4 anchor points, and the screws to install them, and then 2 carabiner clips, and two adjustable hooks. Installing the anchor points was as easy and predrilling a hole where I wanted it to go and installing it with a screw. You can see in my picture on the metal roof where I only used two screws because I broke my drill bit - But it is holding just fine. The adjustable hooks allow you to be a little wide on your measurements, and give you a little slack. Very nice set, nice finish, and everything you need to get some shade. Holds up to some pretty gusty winds so far!

This is our second order of canopy hardware and I love it. Everything is included and the material is solid and well packed. The quality is solid and thick while not stainless steel it appears to be zinc and weather resistant. Only time will tell how durable this is but it appears rock solid and has the potential to last a very long time in all weather conditions.

This must be a multi-application kit ? It has no instructions. I ordered it to install a shade sail canopy just like it says in the name of the product. I have never seen a turnbuckle before. They are made to be able to twist to provide tension on the sail so it doesn't sag. It has open hooks on both ends. I guess they will work as long as the sail stays taut and our strong winds don't yank them out. I'm not sure what all the sheet rock screws and anchors are for. With our elements we will need heftier screws to keep things in place. The kit includes 2 turnbuckles (6 in.), 1- pad eye (2.4 in.), 4- snap hooks (2 in.), 1- 2-piece screw and 1 packet 16-pieces dry wall screws and anchors. That's 9 pieces averaging $2.80 each. At that price they could include instructions.

We picked the COLOURTREE Stainless Steel Square/Rectangle Sun Shade Sail Canopy Hardware Installation Kit, Metallics for installing our sun shade sail canopy. We originally put it together without this kit, but I can honestly say, GET THIS KIT. This has everything you need to keep the sun shade from falling down, or blowing away in a strong wind. They are stainless steel and very sturdy and are made to do this job.

Sun Shade Canopy Hardware. Package contains 2 metal clips, 2 adjustable anchors, 4 metal installation loops, packet of screws and plastic drywall anchors. As with sunshade, NO instructions or installation instructions included. The hardware provided did not seem substantial enough to adequately hold shade except for maybe relatively calm weather conditions.

I ordered the Colourtree stainless steel square/rectangle Sun Shade Sail Canopy hardware installation kit to install a large 16 ft x 16 ft heavy duty shade sail. My recommendation for this kit is based on installing it between symmetrical and squared posts or mounting surfaces. If your attachment points are symmetrical, you will be better off buying the hardware individually to tailor your application. The parts included two turnbuckles, for attachment brackets, screws and wall anchors. The hardware is first rate stainless steel. The turnbuckles are sturdy and adjust smoothly. The kit came with wall anchors, but for a large heavy duty sail I would not recommend wall anchors as the attachment surface should be of a solid material. For my installation I was using three trees and a single post. I did not want to screw the stainless hoops into the trees, so I used rope to attach to the trees and turnbuckles. In addition, my attachment points weren’t square to each other and were at different heights. Because of these asymmetries, I found it necessary to use four turnbuckles instead of two. Overall, the kit was made of high-quality components that would have been ideal for attachment to symmetrical attachment points. For asymmetrical attachment points I would recommend buying hardware individually to suit the application.

I've use a similar but larger sail installation kit for a few sun shades that I have at my home. These were smaller and only suitable for a smaller sail. I obtained them to mount a 12 X 12 triangle sun shade but it was not shipped by the manufacturer. However, I did mount the installation kit in the L outside wing of my home where I plan to install a triangle sail. The L shape is perfect for a triangle shade mounted in the triangular area on the outside wall. The kit came with great mounting brackets and two expandable links to let in or let out the sail. I did not have to use the anchors because I used the screws only to anchor the mounts to my wooden eaves. I'd recommend for a sail that's not to large or heavy.

Adjustable, Secure, Solid. The Colourtree Stainless Steel Canopy Hardware Installation Kit for either square or rectangle sun or solar shades is what you need to secure and tightly emplacement your own defense against the sun's rays. Each component in this kit is made of either stainless steel or a plastic that will hold fast inside a sitting drilled placement hole. The turn buckle have hook ends that make attacking and removing easy but can pose an issue if not properly tightened. The clips clasping catch ensure that they hold close under tension. Where the mounting loss are welded piece with four drilled holes for securing. They look nice when in place and seem to hold well under tension. Well worth taking the time to protect your family and yourself from the days of the sun.
