    A:  Correction to the above answer. The cable is 1/8", not 3/8 ". So the cable grip you need is also 1/8". Sorry for my mistake.

    A:  I was finally able to answer my own question by reading through the comments of users of other shade sail attachment kits. The answer is that on the side that you are not using a ratchet device, you run the cable wire through the corner ring of the shade sail and through the loop at the end of the cable on one end, and you run the cut end through a device called a cable grip and then through the eye bolt on the attachement point. Then you run the cut end back through that little cable grip and tighten the two tiny nuts to grip them together so the cut end can't slip out. This is a tiny little U shaped device with two screws and two nuts which clamps down on the two lengths of cable so they can't slip apart. It costs a few cents apiece and SHOULD have been included in this kit. If you are using 3/8" inch cable (which this is), then you need a 3/8" cable grip. Maybe everyone else in the world knew this already, but I did not. And it was quite annoying to have to research to learn it and then go out and find the right device.

    A:  Hi Renoel, good question. You're gonna want to loop the cable wire through the shade sail corner and then loop one of the looped ends through the other, pulling all the way. On the other end, you'll have a free looped end through which the accompanying carabiner will fit through. The carabiner will serve as the link between the cable wire and the pad-eye.

      A:  Hi Renoel, good question! You'll only need one of these kits. The four attachment points are: 2 pad eyes and 2 ratchet winches. Four 12' cable wires come with the kit for extension.

        A:  I installed a 16x20 with one kit. The cables included are of high quality and all you need to extend the ends of the sail.

        Really nice kit. I'm going to use this to help install a cover over the top of my Grand kids swing set. This is perfect for what I need. The cable is really sturdy. The ratchet units seem to be built well and should last through the seasons. I don't think I'll leave it out during the winter just in case. The amount of wire seems good at 12'. Looking forward to using it in the spring.

        A game changer
        I don’t understand all the negative reviews. Yeah, you may want an extra carabiner or 2, you you may want to use 4” screws, etc. The kit can’t accommodate every installation possibility. I’ve accumulated every component for hanging a sunsail that you can imagine and before buying this product was still unsuccessful in achieving the tension I wanted and the confidence that it would hold. This definitely finished up my project well. I intend to use another kit for another sail.

I could have just purchased a hand winch for $25 and it would have been a better purchase. Be careful with this purchase as all the parts are not in the box as described and shown in the pictures.
