Feeney CableRail Kits are the most popular, attractive and cost-effective solution for wood railing frames and include everything needed to attach and tension a cable. They're designed for frames where there is access to drill through both end posts allowing the fittings to anchor to the outer faces of the posts. Low maintenance and easy-to-install railing infill option for homes and offices with a view. All fittings and 1/8 in. Dia high strength cables are manufactured from high quality 316 grade stainless steel for weather tough durability, ultra-low maintenance, and lasting beauty. The assemblies are laced horizontally through and then tensioned at opposite end posts with special Quick Connect stainless steel fittings and without special tools. You won't need anything more sophisticated than an electric drill, wrench and cable cutters. The prefabricated assemblies are sold in a wide range of standard lengths (from 5 ft. to 50 ft. in increments of 5 ft.) that can be trimmed to a finished dimension in the field. Complete installation instructions, frame requirements, 3-part specifications and detailed drawings are available on this landing page.

This kit contains one 20' stainless steel cable and the necessary hardware for a single cable run. It does not include posts or decorative caps. Whether this is enough to meet IBC (International Building Code) depends on the specific requirements of your project, such as railing height, post spacing, and local code interpretations. IBC guidelines for railings can be complex, so it's recommended to consult the code directly or with a local building inspector to ensure your railing system is compliant.
While the product is strong and durable, using posts spaced 6 feet apart is not recommended. The recommended spacing between posts is 3 feet to maintain proper tension and support. Wider spacing can lead to sagging and reduce the cable's ability to withstand weight, potentially creating a safety hazard. Therefore, it may not safely support the weight of a person if the posts are 6 feet apart.
This product is designed for wood posts. It requires drilling through the posts to attach the fittings. While it's possible you could adapt it for steel posts, it's not the intended use and might require modifications.
