Questions & Answers

We have one of these for our garage but we don't know the code. We just moved in.

Asked by: ajd
If you have transmitters too then I would clear everything from the opener and start fresh. You need to read your manual on how the steps go, but I'll give the steps I use on mine. Hold the learn button (on mine its yellow) for 6 seconds. The light should come on and then go off after the 6 seconds. Now working with one device at a time. Press the learn button and release and the light should come on. Press a transmitter button and the opener light should flash. Done with one. For the keyless press the 4 digit code you want and then press enter. Opener light should flash. Done.

If I install this unit and then on the main control inside the garage, turn off the remote control , will this keyless entry still work? I am adding a keypad to the outside of the garage so while on vacation, I can shut off the ability for someone to open the garage door a remote
Asked by: Bill
Bill, if by “turn off the remote control” you mean using the "LOCK" function on the control panel, then the remote controls will no longer work until the "LOCK" is deactivated. The keypad will continue to work regardless if the "LOCK" is engaged or not. Hope that helps.

Can you use two keypads with one door opener? If yes, how do you program the keypads so they both work independently.
Asked by: Wade
Chamberlain openers can only accept I keyless entry unit per motor. If you need a second keyless Entry then buy an Chamberlain universal keyless, KLIK2U. It programs more like a remote. You can have up to 8 remotes.

Bought the whole Chamberlain garage door opener with the key pad and remotes for our cars less than 2 years ago. Keypad started acting up and not working. Replaced battery with no luck. Called Chamberlain customer service and they told me I would have to go buy a new keypad. Glad they stand behind their product, not! This unit is junk! Don’t buy one.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Really poor design Like other reviewers point out, the keys are super squishy and get stuck under the bezel. We keep replacing these units and rather than being improved, they just get worse.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Flawed design I've had my outside wall mounted remote for about ten years and it's given me fits mainly from the buttons getting stuck in the basil of the pad and when that happens the battery goes dead in pretty short order. I've tried several different silicone lubes to try to keep them freed up but often when my wife uses the touch pad one of the buttons will stick and she doesn't realize it which happened today. We'd gone for a walk around the neighborhood and had locked all of the doors depending on entering the house via the garage but the month old battery was dead and we were locked out but luckily we had a hidden key. The pad needs to have flush mounted buttons.

According to the programming instructions on the paper provided with the opener, step 2 is performed by entering your chosen pin followed by pressing ENTER. According to the instructions inside the opener lid and downloaded from the Chamberlain website, step 2 is completed by pressing # rather than ENTER. Following the paper method will not program my opener. It's surprising the Chamberlain hasn't fixed this. Opener seems fine other than this issue

Love the temp code feature great for when a worker needs temp access to the garage. I have lately discovered that the code is not responsive. Read online that change the code to other keys helps and it did. Seems that the pad's keys don't last more than 4-5 years.... I would still get another due to temp programming. Works well in cold or hot weather, cover has lasted as well.Giving 4 starts would give 5 if they keys lasted a bit longer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Chamberlain Wireless Keypad 940EV-P2 The key pad is easy to set up and use. I’m using this on a storage building that I share with others. This saves me from passing out keys and gives me the ability to change codes when needed. The installation was simple. After installing the battery you follow the simple procedure in the instructions. After the light on the opener blinked, it was done. Very simple to set up and install. I would recommend this. Never had a problem with chamberlain brands. After I purchased this and then got home and saw the reviews not sure how I feel now. My first one lasted 10 years that is why a purchased another one. It was easy to program to my door opener and easy to mount outside on the door frame. I guess time will tell for me.

It was frustrating after several attempts to connect this keypad to my garage door. Carefully reading through the instructions, I tried for approximately 5 minutes. Then I YouTubed how to do it and it only took me 40 seconds. After that the item works perfectly and I love it.
