The Channel Master CM 94444 outdoor matching transformer Balun is used to connect your 75 ohm coaxial cable to the common 300 twin lead style connection on many outdoor antennas. The CM 94444 is an industry standard balun. It offers excellent matching and lowest through loss.
Q:I have 3 coax cables going to old dish system on roof. Can I hook 3 of these up to one antenna

A:Â Hugo- Short answer is, yes. People re-use those cables for their Over The Air antenna systems. Satellite installers usually use high quality RG6 cable for their installations. However; Remove all components that were used/connected to those cables while being used for Satellite. If you can measure DC Voltage, measure the ends of all cables. There should be 0 Volts on every end. We've had customers that were not aware their system still had components from the satellite system connected in their house. Some components can keep your system from working correctly. If satellite power/voltage inserters are still connected in the system, they can actually cause damage to items connected to those 'live' cables.

A:Â I don't know if an antenna can suport multiple bauns. Some dishes needed multiple cables, but an antenna does not. If all cables come to a single point (like a control box), then you only need to use one of them and one baun. Even if each cable goes to a seperate location, I would recommend one cable & baun to the inside and a splitter from there to all other rooms. If it is an amplified antenna, the power injector needs to go between any splitters and the antenna. If the distances are large or the number of splits are many, an amplifed splitter can be used.

A:Â Yes, with a three port signal combiner/splitter. This brand also offers those.

A:Â I don't know that you can re-use an old dish as a direct replacement, but if you build an antenna and attach it to your old dish, then you'll only need one of these baluns, and use a coax splitter to connect the 3 coax cables from there. Hope that helps.

A:Â I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't work in the manner you suggest. Good luck!

A:Â If I understand the question, the spring clip antenna is now actually connected to the Sanyo Stereo. (?) So, I assume that you want to take the Transformer Balum, attached it to this spring clip antenna, then run coax to another antenna, possibly outside, for better reception. If your going to just connect this Transformer Balun to the spring antenna, as a stand alone connected to nothing else, it's pointless. This Transformer Balun is designed to connect a receiver with a 75 ohms input to an antenna with 300 ohms output. I'm not sure of how to answer your question because of the end result(s) that you're looking for. Just remember, you AM/FM receiver is receiving OTA (over the air) signals that your antenna is picking up. AM radio frequencies are transmitting frequencies run from 535 kilohertz to 1.7 megahertz. And FM radio frequencies are transmitting frequencies that run from 88 megahertz to 108 megahertz. Since ohms are a measure of resistance, (without getting too technical here), basically your antenna has a high resistance receiving signals, as stated above, and this Balun transforms takes that resistance down to 75 ohms, from an antenna with a much higher resistance of 300 ohms.
What's a little confusing in your question is that your receiver has a spring clip antenna now that basically is connected to internal lectronics that do the same thing. ( I assume) So, could you state the outcome that you're looking for?

A:Â Yes, it will work fine in your application.

A:Â I tried something similar with antenna wire. I ran antenna wire from the spring clips from the back of an old stereo and attached them to an antenna and it did not work. Try this, don't cut off the round ends, just attach another wire to each of the round ends and then put the wire ends into the back of the spring clips.

A:Â I currently have the spring clip antenna hooked up to the receiver and am not getting any reception because I am in a metal building. I am wanting to hook the balum up to a coaxial cable and outdoor antenna but can't seem to find a balum with spring clip adapters, so I am wanting to know if I purchase this balum can I cut the round connector ends off and use it in my spring clip application?
by|Jan 29, 2019
A:Â Yes, if you want to use co-axial cable as a speaker wire. Not sure if co-ax cable is great speaker wire.
by|Mar 17, 2019
A:Â By cutting off the round ends and inserting into the speaker spring clips you can connect a co-ax wire (cable style) to the speaker

A:Â No, the opening is only big enough for the actual cable and will not allow a connector to pass. I had to cut a slit and once in place
wrapped with electrical tape.

A:Â Not without making a larger hole in the boot. Tape opening to prevent any metal to metal contact. Some coax ends extend beyond the boot.

A:Â Balun designed to convert 300 ohm input to 75 ohm output. In other words, if your radio/TV requires 75 ohm input, but the antenna is a 300 ohm output then this will work.
Likewise if your radio will work on 300 ohm antenna input then you won't need the balun. Most all TVs do require 75 ohm input.

A:Â no, thisis not an antenna, simply connects to the outdoor antenna which requires the flat wire and converts it to coax.

A:Â NO

A:Â It works good on a TV outdoor/indoor antenna. Easy to install, I dont know if it will work on a radio, I guessing it should.
by|May 5, 2023
A:Â If you use it as a part of an antenna, yes. This is what attaches to the antenna to bring the signal in. You can build a simple antenna with this, copper wire and PVC pipe. Plenty of how to videos out there for this. The important thing to remember is keep the terminals separate. Each terminal is a separate pole and, if you combine them, your antenna won't work. Good luck!

A:Â It is designed to match an antenna that has a twin lead (flat 2 wire) connection with a device that uses a coax cable connector.

Hooked it up to my antenna and it converts the over the air signal just like it should. What I really like about it is the extra long leads so I can send it out the back of the antenna so it's not dangling in front of it. Just wish my homemade antenna worked as good as this does.

This product does exactly what it is intended for. I made my own antenna with scrap 2x4 treated wood, and some scrap Romex I had lying around. When it was time to wire it to the coax cable, I needed this outdoor transformer balun. Worked like a charm. A few months later it is still working like a champ.

Tested against 2 other baluns, this one won second place on my antenna. Your antenna may like this one better?

Poor performance
First of all, the item I received doesn't match the one shown on the picture. The actual product comes with soldered flat round contacts on both leads, which is better electrically wise, and the shape of the body resembles any standard outdoor balun, not like the one on homedepot.com picture at all. It did not perform as expected compared to a standard indoor balun. It seems to offer poor matching and/or high through loss when compared to a standard indoor transformer. Test result suggests the Channel Master balun is half efficient than a standard RCA indoor balun. In two tests my antenna received 11 channels with the indoor RCA balun against 6-7 channels with the CM.
