Product Overview

Make your job easier and safer with the Commercial Electric Cable Ripper. It slits the outer covering from non-metallic sheathed cable, such as Romex, to expose the inner insulated wires. The ripper makes end or mid-run slits and has wire gauging holes for ease of use. The simple NM-B Cable jacket ripping tool splits the jacket with one motion.

It's the only NM stripper I use
Just finishing up a house, 1500 feet of NM, 12 and 14 gauge, 2 and 3 conductors, used two of these stripping tools, ordering several more, always keep spares. It's cheap, easy on my hands, light weight on my tool belt. I never gouge the insulation, and I always check. I can reach into a one-gang J box, squeeze the tool into the sheath, withdraw it leaving a perfect 3/4" sheath tail in the box. Every time. I use this tool to get into tight quarters in panels, on ladders in recessed lights, ceiling fans, everywhere. My teacher showed me how to use these 25 years ago. I am completely shocked by all these negative reviews. Now I understand why my store stopped stocking them.

Short and Sweet.....Don't buy this piece of junk!!! If there was a zero star rating I would use that. Doesn't follow outside of the romex cover. Runs off edge of Romex every time, poor cutter blade, and takes multiple passes to get the job done. Metal is to thin, had to keep opening the tail end with a large screwdriver so it wouldn't bind on the romex. Just squeezing it with you fingers collapses it on the romex. I had a different manufacture of this design for years that worked great but this one is piece of junk. Spend a bit more and buy a better rated ripper.

Inferior product
I had lost my good cable ripper and needed to replace it. Do not buy this product. It is made of inferior metal and the blade that is supposed to cut through Romex and NM sheathing bends quickly and does not cut. I straightened the blade out several times and guess what? It broke off.
