A:  Not a definitive answer as I bought and installed this valve well over a year ago and don't recall. typically however, the ball and valve stem on such parts are plastic and the body would be brass. Regardless, the part has worked very well with no problems at all. The one thing to mention is that my application is not shutting off water but rather control the flow of water in a shower. When the valve is fully closed though, it does shut off water, but not sure if it would seal indefinitely - just a comment... Thanks, Jim

A:  Only the internal parts are plastic. I don't know what parts are brass, but the remaining parts are metal, in a chrome finish.

A:  There is no plastic in the part

        by|Aug 26, 2020

A:  The photograph shown is very poor. The black areas are simply improperly lighted. The entire valve is chrome-plated brass, and is of high quality.

        by|Jul 22, 2019

A:  The exterior of the valve is non- magnetic that appears to be stainless steel.I don't recall looking at the ball in the valve but the valve functions smoothly. It is my experience valves with plastic do not last long before they start leaking through. I've had no problems so far.

A:  As far as I know, this is all metal with a chrome finish. I have bought several of these through the years and I really like them. I have them on all my shower heads. They are well made and last. Helps me control the volume of water coming through the shower head, which helps save $$ on hot water while conserving water.

          by|Jul 21, 2019

A:  Body is brass; plastic may be in the interior supporting the ball valve - not sure.

            by|Jan 21, 2020

A:  As far as I can tell, it is all brass. If anything is plastic, maybe it is an internal part that has something to do with the stopping of the water?

            by|Jul 20, 2019

A:  It's completely chrome covered brass. No cheap plastic parts at all.

A:  when fully open it does not impeded water flow.

                by|Aug 28, 2018

A:  Does not appear to, my situation is second floor bathrooms so the water pressure may be less to start with.

                  by|Mar 27, 2018

A:  Yes about as much as a water saver shower head so if you already have one it slows it down to just above nothing.

A:  No it does not restrict the flow of water when in the fully opened position, but you can impede the normal flow with this valve.

                      by|Nov 7, 2017

A:  Thank you for your inquiry. This diverter allows for the water supply volume to be turned down at the shower head. So when the valve is completely open you will receive the same water pressure flow that you did prior to applying the valve.

A:  Thank you for your inquiry. No, when in the full on position you should not notice a reduction in flow.

A:  Does not appear to restrict AFAIK, my install is second floor baths so pressure could possibly be lower than first floor or basement.

A:  No, it is a water saver valve, not a water shut off valve. The shower head will drip.

A:  Thank you for your inquiry. This is a volume control valve. It reduces the flow of water, but does not stop it. To fix the leak, change the appropriate cartridge in the faucet body.

                                            Perfect for my need
Since my shower faucet only has one out flow speed, this device allows me to control the water flow rate.

                                                It's supposed to trickle
Commenters complaining about it not turning completely off and giving it a low rating for this do not understand how this or any shower head with the pause built in are supposed to work. The trickle is to keep a little water running to maintain the hot/cold proportion for when you turn it back on so you won't get a burst of too hot or too cold water. They all work this way.
