I am a believer
after half the neighborhood giving it their shot graduating from adjustable pliers to vice grips, to plumbers wrench's the bolt was pretty well rounded. To make matters worse it was now tapered wide at the base to narrow at the head. Next step was to replace the oil pan. looked at the reviews and saw the videos and decided it was worth a try. Tapped it on with a small hammer, turned wrench and started to slip so tapped it again and bolt came right off. Didn't damage the tool at all. Of course the bolt is now pretty much unusable so don't think you're saving it

Jiffy Lube “tech,” a.k.a. schmuck, seriously over tightened and rounded off oil drain bolt on my daughters car. Yes, dad told her not to EVER go there; if only these kids listened. I tried all of my tricks to remove it and it would not budge, just rounded off even more, to the point I was resigned to replacing lower oil pan altogether. I did a little research for removing a stripped bolt head and came across these. I was dubious, but hopeful. I did a little grinding on the bolt to give it some sort of edges, lightly tapped on one of these extractor sockets and then used an impact wrench. Bolt came right off. Great product and saved me from a much more lengthy task and expense.

Broke First Time I Used It
The star bit broke the first time that I used it. Nothing heavy duty--driving a screw into a 2x4. I don't have any confidence that any of the other bits will do any better. Cheap bits aren't any good if they don't work.

        Worth every penny!
Bought this a day ago in a hope to remove a seized inverted E10 bolt in my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee engine, it was my last resort before going to a mechanic. This bolt is part of the EGR valve that I want to remove to clean it, the other bolt was easily removed but this one was tight so hard with the head damaged that nothing worked especially because the location of the bolt is hard accessible in between the back of the engine and the firewall. Then I came across this bolt remover set from HD and I gave it a chance given the fact that these sockets are not big and it would fit on top of the bolt perfectly. I did not hammer it because a hammer doesn't fit in that tiny space, I used the 5/16" socket and the drill bit adapter that came with the set and a small adjustable wrench. The bolt remover grabbed the damaged bolt head like a wise grip and removed it at first try. Really impressed and it saved me money, time and a trip to mechanic.

          Just works.
Had a shock absorber mount bolt with the head broken off and seized. Had no expectations but with some wrenching with the 5/16th bit it is not stuck in my car anymore.

I ran into a problem this past weekend when I tried to change the oil on my Jeep Rubicon JKU. I just bought this jeep so this was my first oil change. Whoever changed the oil last time over tightened the drain plug and also the bolt was completely stripped. The drain plug is a 13mm and I could spin the 13mm socket around it with my fingers...the 12mm socket didn't quite fit. I tried to soak it with liquid wrench and further stripped it for probably a good 30 minutes with the vice grips...No Luck! At this point I just started searching for whatever solution and I came across numerous bolt extractors. To be honest I have mostly dewalt power tools and I trust their quality so when I found the dewalt bolt extractor set I figured I'd give it a shot. There are so many bolt extractor brands and different sets and in no way I'm putting them down or even comparing them to dewalt...HOWEVER, what I can tell you is that the dewalt bolt extractor removed the bolt in about 10 seconds. I put some pressure on the wrench above the socket and by the 3rd pull the extractor loosened it. The extractor bit down on what used to be a 13mm bolt that No socket or tool would even budge. If anyone reads this I hope this helps you decide and feel confident buying/using this set.
